Dare to be inspired? Thank you for all the private messages about the featured vocal ensemble coming to Oulu in November.
The vocal ensemble is Systir and they perform one concert on 21st November at 18:00 in Oulu Cathedral.

Systir, led by Lauren McGlynn, bring their own twist to the classic Dolores O'Riordan song 'Zombie' - released as a digital single and to streaming next week (November 6), you can catch Systir in concert in Dublin on December 5th and Oulu in Finland on November 21.

You may remember their concert at our fest in 2025, if you do, you already know what is in store. If not, welcome. We try to inform as many people as possible through these channels. Many may not receive the news, so please spread the word.

Irlantilainen lauluyhtye Systir palaa Ouluun! Maailmaa kiertänyt yhtye vieraili kaupungissa viimeksi vuonna 2025 osana The Irish Festival of Oulu -tapahtumaa ja lumosi äänellään täyden tuomiokirkon yleisön. Nyt Systir esiintyy Oulun tuomiokirkossa Lumo-valofestivaalin aikaan lauantaina 21.11.

Uudessa Illuminations-konsertissa kuullaan Systirin omia lauluja ja sovituksia sekä musiikkia 1100-luvulla eläneeltä Hildegard Bingeniläiseltä ja nykyartisteilta, kuten Janelle Monáelta ja Kate Bushilta. Oulun konserttia varten yhtye valmistelee myös uusia teoksia.

”Ouluun tuomme lauluja, joissa ääntä käytetään valon tavoin tuomaan esiin musiikin ja sen sisältämien tarinoiden ydin.”

Irlantilainen lauluyhtye Systir palaa Ouluun ja esiintyy tuomiokirkossa Lumo-valofestivaalin aikaan lauantaina 21. marraskuuta 2026!

Tänä iltana valo ei näy vain Oulun kaupunkitilassa, vaan se saa muodon myös musiikissa ja ihmisäänessä. Systirin Illuminations-konsertti tuo valofestivaalin keskelle musiikkia, jossa keskiaikaiset sävelmät, eurooppalaiset lauluperinteet ja nykyajan laulut kohtaavat.

Ohjelmistossa kuullaan yhtyeen omia lauluja ja sovituksia sekä musiikkia 1100-luvulla eläneeltä Hildegard Bingeniläiseltä ja nykyartisteilta, kuten Janelle Monáelta ja Kate Bushilta.

Systir on kiertänyt maailmaa viime vuosina ja Oulussa yhtye vieraili viimeksi vuonna 2025 osana The Irish Festival of Oulu -festivaalia ja esiintyi täydelle Oulun tuomiokirkon yleisölle.

– Systirin laulajat luovat yhdessä yhden äänen, jossa on monia sävyjä, jota voisi kutsua ”soivaksi valoksi”. Valmistelemme Oulun konserttia varten uusia teoksia, joissa ääntä käytetään valon tavoin tuomaan esiin musiikin ja sen sisältämien tarinoiden ydin. Konsertin nimi on Illuminations (suom. mm. valaiseminen) ja tarinankerronta on eräänlaista asioiden valaisemista ja näkyväksi tekemistä. Tarjoamme äänistä muodostuvan kuvan, josta jokainen kuulija voi löytää oman merkityksensä, sanoo Michael McGlynn.

Here are just a few of the thousands of pics our volunteers took during the festival.
If you participated and engaged with us, you know these are only a glimpse to the magic we shared together. Saturday especially. You'd think we'd have more sense when it rained, but true to our hearts we continued and literally were dancing in the rain together.

We put our dreams, visions, hopes and every gram of passion into this festival to celebrate life together. Culture belongs to US all!
