Twenty members enjoyed a fantastic luncheon last week at Seville‘s Catalina Casa de Comidas. Great food, good service, and lively conversation made for an enjoyable afternoon.

The September meeting of the AWC Book Club featured a discussion of The Teahouse Fire by Ellis Avery, the story of two women whose lives intersect in 19th century Japan as the ciuntry was opening its doors to the west. The story’s shifts between tradition and modernity sparked a lively discussion among those attending

The AWC Book Club meets monthly. On tap for the October meeting is The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak.

The new AWC year kicked off with a spectacular Welcome Back event on September 20 with the largest attendance in our 70 year history. Longtime members welcomed new members, and the buzz of their conversations promised another terrific year.

It’s great to be back in the swing of things with the start of a new AWC year. We’ve already enjoyed a fabulous luncheon, a chatty coffee club, a terrific book club discussion, and a family picnic with much more to come. We kicked off the 2024-2025 program
year today with a spectacular Welcome Back event. Nearly 100 new and long-time members attended so there was lots of happy chat, great food, and an
opportunity to learn about plans for the next few months including family picnics and parties, luncheons, book club, hikes and walks, charity activities - and more.
