rden. Dabei arbeiten wir mit gewaltfreiem Training, R+ (positive reinforcement) und halten unsere Pferde ausschließlich barhuf. Wir erschaffen eine natürliche und ökologische Umgebung für unsere Tiere und geben ihnen ein friedliches Zuhause für den Rest ihres Lebens.

THANK YOU THURSDAY – NICO & DOGGY 🤍

Some thank you posts come a little later than planned. But that doesn’t make them any less deserved.

Today we want to celebrate Nico and Doggy.

When Doggy first came into Nico’s life, being alone felt impossible. The moment he couldn’t see his person, panic would set in. Leaving him with someone else was incredibly difficult, and everyday life often had to revolve around helping Doggy feel safe.

But what we’ve watched over time has been something really special.

Not because there was a quick fix.
Not because everything changed overnight.

But because Nico showed up for him every single day. First as fosteringhome here at the finca..

Slowly, Doggy learned that being apart didn’t have to be scary. He learned that other people could be safe too. The dog who once struggled so much with separation can now happily stay with others without spending the entire time crying and worrying.
He’s more confident around other dogs, healthier, happier and far more relaxed.

And perhaps the most beautiful part is that Doggy now simply gets to be himself.

The bond between these two is something truly special, and seeing Doggy thrive with his human reminds us exactly why adoption matters so much.

As a lovely coincidence, today is also Nico’s birthday. 🎂

So Happy Birthday, Nico, and thank you for giving Doggy exactly what every rescue animal hopes for: a place to belong.

VOLUNTEER GARDENERS WANTED – TENERIFE 🌱

We’re looking for passionate people to join our gardening team at our animal sanctuary in Tenerife!

You don’t need to be a professional gardener. If you have some experience, a gardening hobby, or simply a love of growing things and working with nature, we’d love to hear from you.

One of our biggest goals is to transform the sanctuary into a greener, more sustainable space. We collect and reuse our grey water and are constantly looking for ways to turn previously dry areas into thriving gardens, food-growing spaces and beautiful habitats for both people and animals. If you enjoy getting your hands dirty, learning new skills and helping bring a vision to life, this could be the perfect opportunity.

🌿 What we offer:
• 25 hours per week volunteer exchange
• Basic rustic accommodation
• Freegan food provided
• A unique community of around 60 volunteers from around the world
• The opportunity to live alongside and help care for hundreds of rescued animals
• Hands-on experience in sustainability, gardening and community living

🌿 We’re looking for people who:
• Have some gardening experience, whether professional, hobby-based or self-taught
• Enjoy working outdoors
• Are passionate about sustainability and environmental projects
• Are proactive, positive and willing to be part of a team
• Are looking for a meaningful experience rather than a holiday

📍 Location: Tenerife, Canary Islands
📍 Minimum age is 18
📍 Minimum stay is 2 months

Please note that unfortunately we cannot assist with visas, visa applications, sponsorships, work permits, invitation letters or any documentation required to obtain a visa. Volunteers must already have the legal right to enter and stay in Spain before applying.

🐾 CHOOSE ME TUESDAY 🐾

Today, we’re introducing not one kitten, but 11 kittens looking for homes. 🤍

They come from different litters, different backgrounds and different stories. Some have Maine C**n heritage, some were born to street cats, and others arrived through volunteers that brought them safely to the sanctuary.

What they all have in common is that they’re ready for their next chapter.

These kittens are friendly, playful, curious and growing up fast. They deserve families, warm beds, and a place to call home.

🐾 MEET ME MONDAY – SANTINA 🐾

At first, we thought Santina’s story was going to be a sad one.

We spotted a man lingering near the sanctuary entrance with a German Shepherd. From a distance, it looked like a situation we’ve unfortunately seen before, and we assumed he might be planning to leave her behind.

But thanks to a chance conversation, we discovered the story wasn’t quite what it seemed.

While we never learned every detail, it became clear that this wasn’t simply a case of someone wanting to get rid of a dog. Instead, someone had taken it upon themselves to make sure Santina reached a safe place, even if they didn’t want to be part of the story themselves.

And so, completely unexpectedly, Santina arrived at our gates.

When she came to us, she had no microchip and wasn’t sterilised, so we arranged a full veterinary check, had her sterilised, microchipped, and officially started her journey towards a brighter future.

Whatever happened before she arrived, that’s not what defines her.

What defines Santina is the dog we know today: intelligent, beautiful, loyal, affectionate, and ready to give her whole heart to a family of her own.

Kitten season is here… and our cattery is full of tiny paws, curious eyes and hopeful hearts.

Right now, we have 16 kittens looking for their forever homes.

These little ones are friendly, playful, used to children and other cats, and ready to become part of a family. Their story isn’t unusual for Tenerife. In fact, that’s the problem. Every rescue we speak to is overwhelmed with kittens, and finding homes has become harder than ever.

While they wait for adoption, each kitten needs food, vaccinations, parasite treatments, veterinary care and eventually sterilisation. It all adds up quickly.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, we’d love to hear from you. And if adoption isn’t possible, sharing this post can make a bigger difference than you might think.

📦 Sometimes the most useful donations aren’t the things people usually think of.

A huge thank you to Caballos del Sol - happy horses in Lanzarote for sending us a box full of supplies they no longer needed. Items that might be sitting unused somewhere else often become things we use every single day here.

One thing people sometimes forget is that we’re not only caring for animals
we’re also a community of people living and working here. From tools and equipment to everyday practical items, donations like these make a real difference.

So if you ever have horse-related items, tools, materials, or useful supplies gathering dust, please don’t throw them away before checking if they could help a sanctuary like ours. 🤍
