Mohamed Mansour
Ph.D. in Petroleum Geology
Senior Development Geologist at GUPCO with around 15 years of experience in field development and static reservoir modeling.

He is specialized in: • 3D Geological Modeling using Petrel
• Reservoir Characterization
• Field Development Planning
• Prospect Evaluation & Risk Assessment
• Hydrocarbon Volume Estimation
• Structural & Stratigraphic Interpretation

Throughout his career, he has worked on several major Gulf of Suez fields including October-H, Morgan, Ramadan, and GS365, contributing to advanced geological studies and development projects.

✨ Some of his key achievements include: • Successfully delivering the OCT-H7A well with 90% alignment to the predicted 3D model
• Achieving an initial production rate exceeding 4000 BOPD
• Improving drilling efficiency by 25%
• Enhancing reservoir characterization accuracy by 15% through advanced facies modeling
• Training and mentoring more than 10 junior geologists

In addition to his industry experience, he also has a strong academic background as: • Part-Time Lecturer at Alexandria University
• Former Lecturer at Mansoura University
• Former Demonstrator at Helwan University

🛢️ Oil Wells… The Journey to Earth’s Hidden Resources.

Oil is one of the most important energy sources in the world, and it is accessed through oil wells that connect us to valuable resources buried deep beneath the Earth's surface.🌍

However, drilling an oil well is not simply digging a hole in the ground; it is a complex scientific and engineering process involving geologists and engineers working together to locate and extract petroleum efficiently. 🔬⛏️

The process begins with geological studies, where geologists analyze rock layers and geological structures to identify potential locations where oil or natural gas may accumulate. Modern technologies such as seismic surveys are often used to create images of subsurface rock layers. 🌋
Once a suitable location is identified, the drilling process begins using advanced drilling rigs capable of reaching depths of several thousand meters. During drilling, special drilling fluids are used to stabilize the well and prevent the surrounding rock from collapsing. ⚙️

Oil wells are generally classified into several types:

🔹 Exploratory Wells: Drilled to determine whether oil or gas exists in a specific area.
🔹 Production Wells: Used to extract oil or gas once a commercially viable reservoir is confirmed.
🔹 Injection Wells: Used to inject water or gas into the reservoir to maintain pressure and enhance production.
The oil extracted from these wells becomes the starting point for many industrial processes, contributing to the production of fuel, plastics, synthetic fibers, asphalt, and many everyday products. ⚡🏭

✨ Therefore, oil wells are not just holes in the ground they represent the result of advanced scientific research and technology aimed at understanding Earth’s geology and responsibly utilizing its natural resources.

We are honored to announce Mr. Ebrahim Abuzaid as the new AAPG Suez President and Mr. Hesham Abd Elhamed as the new AAPG Suez Vice President.
