EMBL Events

EMBL Events Join our world-class courses, conferences and workshops at the forefront of molecular life science.

EMBL's mission is to create a centre of excellence for training in Europe. We support this mission by organising events to strengthen relationships between international scientists and providing a platform to share the latest research developments. We welcome over 7000 participants a year to our practical courses, workshops and conferences across all the six EMBL sites and virtually.

🧪🔬 Are you a researcher or technician working in genomics and want to incorporate the Sequencing by Expansion (SBX) technology into your work?

Then the EMBL Course 'Introduction to SBX and advanced NGS for genomic research' was designed for you: https://s.embl.org/sbx26-01-fb

Together, we will explore the underlying biochemistry and the advantages of SBX and gain a holistic understanding of Xpandomer synthesis and bioinformatic analysis.

You can look forward to these modules:
🔹 Introduction to Sequencing by Expansion (SBX)
🔹 SBX duplex library preparation
🔹 Hands-on training
🔹 Xpandomer synthesis and SBX sequencing
🔹 SBX data analysis
🔹 Key applications in genomics and translational research

✍️ Apply by 27 July
🗓️ 9 – 13 November 2026
📍 EMBL Heidelberg

is co-organised with Roche Diagnostics.

Last Friday, we wrapped up the EMBO | EMBL Symposium 'Mechanobiology across the tree of life'! 🌳🎉

A huge thank you to our participants, speakers, and organisers for making this symposium such a success. Together, we explored how new technologies and approaches are advancing mechanobiology across biological systems, from cell wall, cytoskeleton, and membrane biology to imaging, molecular, computational, and biophysical methods.

We're already looking forward to the next edition of !
