After returning from our study visit to Brussels, the participants of “EUtopia: Shaping Our Future” took time to reflect on everything they had learned and experienced during the exchange. 🇪🇺

To deepen their understanding of EU politics, participants took part in a simulation of the European institutions, allowing them to put their knowledge into practice while discussing their own priorities for the future of the European Union.

As the exchange came to a close, we invited the young people to imagine their own “EUtopia” and share their vision for what a perfect EU could look like 20 years from now. Together, they discussed the values, policies, and changes they would like to see shaping Europe’s future.

🌍✨ Ein Anfang und ein Abschied, zwei Freiwillige, unzählige Erinnerungen ✨🌍 Während Nelli noch mitten in ihrem Abenteuer in Skopje steckt und gespannt auf alles blickt, was noch vor ihr liegt, hat Aimee ihr Kapitel in Rumänien bereits abgeschlossen – mit vielen Erfahrungen, Begegnungen und Erinnerungen, die bleiben werden 💫

Für beide war der Freiwilligendienst weit mehr als nur ein Aufenthalt im Ausland. Es waren Monate voller neuer Menschen, spontaner Reisen, Herausforderungen, Chaos, Wachstum und ganz besonderer Momente.

Nelli erlebt ihren Alltag aktuell in Skopje 🇲🇰 – in einer Stadt voller Gegensätze, Überraschungen und ständig neuer Eindrücke. Zwischen WG-Leben, gemeinsamen Kochabenden, spontanen Ausflügen und der Arbeit am Jugendmagazin VOICES ist kein Tag wie der andere. Auch wenn der Start nicht immer einfach war, wurde aus dem anfänglichen Chaos nach und nach ein neues Zuhause. Und das Beste daran: Das Abenteuer ist für sie noch lange nicht vorbei ✨ Wir sind gespannt, welche Geschichten und Erfahrungen noch auf sie warten.

Aimee hingegen blickt auf ihre Zeit in Rumänien 🇷🇴 zurück – auf all die Menschen, die ihren Weg begleitet haben, auf Herausforderungen, an denen sie gewachsen ist, und auf Erinnerungen, die sie für immer mitnehmen wird. Ein Freiwilligendienst bedeutet oft, aus der eigenen Komfortzone herauszutreten, Neues zu entdecken und dabei auch sich selbst besser kennenzulernen. Genau das hat ihre Zeit im Ausland so besonders gemacht 💛

Beide zeigen auf ihre ganz eigene Weise, wie prägend ein Freiwilligendienst sein kann: neue Kulturen kennenlernen, internationale Freundschaften schließen, Verantwortung übernehmen und Erinnerungen schaffen, die weit über die Zeit im Projekt hinaus bleiben 🌍

🚲 World Bicycle Day 🌍

Today we celebrate World Bicycle Day, a reminder of how something as simple as a bike can make a big difference for both people and the planet.

Cycling is one of the most sustainable ways to move around. It produces zero emissions, helps reduce air pollution and lowers traffic congestion in cities. Choosing the bike over a car, even just a few times a week, can already have a positive environmental impact.

But it is not only good for the planet, it is also great for us. Riding a bike improves physical health, boosts mental well-being, reduces stress and gives us a stronger connection to our surroundings. It is freedom, movement and mindfulness all in one.

We believe in small everyday choices that create big change. So today, we celebrate cycling as a simple but powerful way to care for ourselves and our environment.

Ride green, feel good 🌱

And let’s be honest… if today you catch yourself thinking “I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike” 🎸 you are absolutely doing World Bicycle Day right 😉🚴‍♂️

🍰🌍 Intercultural Learning Through Food and Games

At the youth centre in Burglesum, we spent the afternoon baking cakes, playing card games and connecting with local teenagers in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Through these activities, we shared information about Erasmus+ opportunities and introduced an upcoming youth camping project taking place in July. The informal setting encouraged open conversations, cultural exchange and curiosity about international experiences.

By bringing young people together through food, games and dialogue, the activity helped promote intercultural understanding and encouraged participants to discover new opportunities for learning, mobility and personal development.

A wonderful afternoon filled with fun, connection and new possibilities for the future. 🌱✨

As part of our youth exchange “EUtopia: Shaping our Future”, we organized a study visit to Brussels for our participants 🇪🇺

During our two-night stay, participants visited the European Parliament and the House of European History, gaining deeper insight into the institutions and history of the European Union.

Participants from EU countries also had the opportunity to meet with their MEPs and learn more about what the work of a Member of the European Parliament truly looks like. Together, they discussed important topics for young people today, including European security and affordability in the EU.

Our Ukrainian participants even met with the Ukrainian Mission to the EU and also had a conversation with Marta Vetrykovska, Deputy Head of the European External Action Service. We are grateful to all the politicians and representatives who took the time to listen to the concerns and ideas of young Europeans. 💬 .projects .info .ultima

Instead of just sitting through presentations, you’ll dive straight into the recycling process, explore circular design, and learn what it takes to build a social enterprise.
