♻️ Cleanup starts right where you are: at home.
 
Over the past week, we’ve been reminded of something important:
 
Protecting rivers and oceans begins with taking responsibility for our immediate environment.
 
Together with our partners, supporters, and volunteers, we have brought the everwave spirit from our international projects to our bases in Germany: Munich and Aachen.
 
Two locations. One mission.
 
From sunshine and heavy rain to full waste bags and great conversations: we share a commitment to creating cleaner environments for everyone.
 
Although we at everwave primarily focus on detecting, collecting, inspiring and recycling in areas severely affected by plastic pollution, environmental responsibility knows no borders.
 
Every cleanup is important. 
And it’s about more than the waste collected.
It’s about making pollution visible.
It’s about bringing people together.
It’s also about turning awareness into action.

Sustainability turns into reality when it moves from conversation to action.
 
That’s why we’re excited to be at the Hamburg Sustainability Summit on 24 and 25 June 2026 at📍 Hamburg Messe!
 
Every person attending the event automatically funds the collection of one kilogram of waste through everwave.
 
💚 In total, 2,000 kilograms of waste will be collected as part of this initiative.
💚 A simple idea with a tangible impact: connecting participation with measurable environmental action.
 
But there’s another question we’d like everyone at the conference to think about:
 
❓What does one kilogram of waste actually look like?
 
Most people are surprised by the answer. That’s why we’ve set up a little challenge: Can you estimate one kilogram of packaging waste?
 
Visit our guessing game station, make your best guess, and see how close you get.
 
📍You’ll find it next to the main entrance to the Main Stage (not at our everwave booth F03 😉).
 
Understanding waste is the first step.
Measuring it is the second.
Reducing it is where the real work begins.

Spending the past few days at the Ishëm Delta in Albania, one of Europe’s most polluted river systems.
 
For some of our team, it was their first time seeing the scale of plastic pollution in person. A powerful reminder that behind every data point, every cleanup and every project, there are real places in urgent need of protection.
 
Days like these strengthen our commitment and remind us why our mission matters.

What a (cleanup) day!

On Wednesday, we braved the poor weather forecast for our first-ever cleanup day in Munich, together with our local partners.

🌧️According to the forecast, there was a 100% chance of rain.
☁️And yet...not a single drop fell during the cleanup
It seems like nature knew we were there to help. 😉

While we at everwave dedicate a lot of time to removing plastic from rivers around the world, it's important to remember:

Environmental responsibility doesn't start somewhere else. It starts on our doorstep. Right here by the Isar.

Plastic pollution is often seen as a distant problem. But waste in nature is everywhere, and every piece we collect is one less that could end up in waterways, rivers, and eventually the ocean.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and a special shoutout to Tamara and Rudi from München TV for coming along and filming the day. 🎥

The special thing about these events isn't just the amount of waste collected. It's the conversations along the way, the shared commitment, and the reminder that real impact happens when people take action together.

🌊 Happy World Oceans Day!
So, let's talk about rivers.

When people think about marine pollution, they often imagine:

🐢 sea turtles
🏝️ remote beaches
🌊 floating garbage patches

But most ocean plastic begins its journey much earlier.After removing over 2.6 million kilograms of waste from rivers and waterways, we have learned one key lesson: The fight for healthy oceans is won or lost upstream.

Every clean-up operation reinforces the same reality:

The most important place to protect the ocean is not the ocean itself.
It's the river carrying waste towards it.

That's why our work focuses on:

🏗 Infrastructure

Ocean protection is not a single action. It's an infrastructure system.
And systems start upstream.

🌍 Happy World Environment Day!

Let's talk about something we don't discuss often enough: Hope.

Not the kind that comes from headlines.

The kind that comes from witnessing progress firsthand.
✨A riverbank that was once covered in waste now cleaned up.
✨A local team that has built a functioning waste collection system.
✨A partner who decides to invest in long-term impact.
✨A community that takes responsibility and action.

Environmental challenges are real. But so is our progress.

After years of working on rivers around the world, we have learned that change rarely happens all at once.

It happens one project, one partnership and one infrastructure system at a time.

That's what we want to focus on today and every day- because real impact is built over time.

A few weeks ago, everwave took over operations in Sihanoukville.

The site is located in a coastal region facing significant waste management challenges and direct exposure to marine pollution. Since March, our local team has increased collection volumes by around 150% per month, reaching 41 tonnes of waste collected and processed only in May.

Behind these results:
👉 a dedicated local team
👉 daily collection operations
👉 proper processing infrastructure
👉 and transparent reporting and documentation.

This is what scaling impact looks like: real operations, measurable results, and long-term commitment on the ground. We look forward to continuing this journey together with the local communities! ♻️🌍
