Yarker Firefighters Association

Yarker Firefighters Association On this page you will find information on our local events, sponsors, fire prevention and more! The Yarker Firefighters Association was formed in 1937.

Currently the association consist of 26 Yarker Station Firefighters. Our goals are to bring the community together and to maintain our fire station. This page will provide you some insight and information on our history, events, sponsors, fire prevention and community involvement. History:

The Yarker Fire Dept. was organized and formed in 1937 by a group of local citizens who managed to raise mo

ney to purchase a used but functional 1921 fire truck. All the operational costs and money needed to run Yarker Fire Station was raised by local fund raising projects and initiatives. The purchased 1921 National Fire Truck which was acquired from Longbranch Fire Dept. This apparatus could reach maximum speeds of 28 mph as it roared to many fires within our township day and night. Eventually as needs changed, the truck was sold to Kingston Township Fire Dept. as an antique for display and other parade style events. The money that was obtained from the sale of the antique 1921 pumper was then used to purchase a 1948 Tanker truck. Eventually, as fate would have it, Kingston Township would donate the antique pumper back to our association where it now calls home. Through many efforts of the local tradespeople and association dollars, the National truck has been maintained and mostly restored to glory. We still proudly showcase the apparatus during local holidays and events. In 1967, the Yarker Fire Dept. was incorporated by the township and was renamed Camden East TWP. Fire Dept. Station #1. Camden East Township funded and aided Yarker Station #1 as well as Station #2 in Enterprise. Purchasing Items such as four wheel drive fire vehicle, a training projector and rescue equipment. All of these would prove to be essential to our firefighting training and efforts. In 1978 Yarker Station #1 was by then fully equipped with a 1960 Fire truck, a 1975 Tanker truck and a four wheel drive fire vehicle. Plans to obtain a Pumper truck were in the works and the groundwork was being laid for another acquisition in the near future.

1998 brought about progression and change. The amalgamation of the townships was forged with the birth of Stone Mills Township. Stations Newburg #3 and Tamworth #4 joins Yarker #1 and Enterprise #2. We, the members of the Yarker Firefighters Association are proud of the accomplishments, contributions, sacrifice and donations made over the past 80 years. It is our privilege to thank the people of our township for their continued support in making our local fire and rescue service what it is today!

Our summer line-up and calendar has been a busy one so far. Yesterday was a master-class in hosting our annual Phoenix Open Tournament.

We would like to thank our all of our valued sponsors, Camden Braes for being such gracious and accommodating partners, as well as "Mother Nature" who allowed us to dodge some unfavourable weather.

Last but not least ... you the golfers who by far and large add the flavour, heart and soul to our event. There were smiles, endless laughter and support from the teams as we yet again revived our auction. To each and every one who contributes to this day we send a sincere thanks, and can't wait to do it all again next year.

God bless and stay safe!
From all of us at Yarker Firefighters Association.

On Saturday, May 30th the very first Car Show was hosted at the Yarker Ball Field. The event was enjoyed by many car enthusiasts and the weather was exceptional. In addition the good smells of the grill were in the air.

There were over 100 cars in attendance. 12 personnel from Yarker Firefighters Association represented. There were almost 200 burgers and over 100 hotdogs served up between 10 am - 2pm. That's impressive by any ball park standards!

Total donation and funds raised to be announced soon. All proceeds benefit Yarker Minor Softball and the Wildcats.

Thank you to all involved.
Giving is Growing.

June is PTSD Awareness Month. This month serves as a poignant reminder of the invisible scars borne by many. It's a time to shed light on the silent struggles of those living with post-traumatic stress disorder and to foster understanding and empathy within our communities. To all of those who are struggling, persevering and winning the small battles. ❤️‍🩹
