Our members have put in a tremendous amount of work in over the last couple weeks. Our rotary train lift is operational again! Our new compressor for steaming and our lift has been installed. Road bed has been laid down for one of our new lines, The exit from our wooded area has been regraded and is well on its way to being operation for our first run day July 5th.

We’ve been putting in a great deal of work to get the railway ready for this summer. Everything is moving along smoothly thanks to our team of volunteers. We are excited to see everybody on our first run day July 5th, Don’t miss out!

At the end of every run day the boiler has to be blown down in order to relieve pressure and help the steam engine cool down to put it away. This happens after we dump the hot coals into the coal pit. Blow down typically takes about 10 minutes.

This is our Burrell traction engine. It is a working scale model and burns coal just like our other steam engines. It has recently undergone repairs and was flashed up for the first time in many years. It will be making an appearance on our run days so be sure to check it out.

Interested in joining the railroad? For only 10 dollars a year you can become a member of the Atlantic Model Engineering Society and the Trecothic Creek & Windsor Railway. As a member you can learn to operate and maintain locomotives, Operate switches and deal with the logistics at the railroad on run days, Assist in maintaining the railroad, Operate our equipment to maintain the property, and so much more. Our entire railroad operates on a volunteer basis. You will gain many skills as a member and assist in keeping our railroad alive for many years to come. Attendance can be as little or as often as you’d like. To join you can come on down to the railroad on one of our work party days. If you’re interested send us a private message and we will notify you of the next work party day.
