CIC Yukon Branch We aim to host 3-4 events per year involving Yukon, Canadian and international speakers in a variety of formats, including in-person and digital.

The Yukon branch of the Canadian International Council brings Yukoners together to discuss international affairs across a wide range of topics including circumpolar affairs, climate diplomacy, Arctic sovereignty and security, trade and immigration. On August 11, CIC National is hosting an online roundtable in partnership with KAS Canada on AI, information integrity and democratic resilience. The discussion will feature Rignam Wangkhang, CBC News’ first AI Advisor and co-founder of the Canadian AI Journalism Network, alongside Madeleine Case, Policy and Strategic Initiatives Lead at TMU’s Democratic Engagement Exchange.

As AI increasingly shapes the information Canadians encounter, from convincing deepfakes to AI-generated news and chatbot answers, the discussion will consider how Canada can protect public trust and strengthen democratic resilience.
