Safety Advisors like Vishnu Padmalayam Vijay are often the underappreciated backbone of the public service. They protect staff and members of the public, ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes. These workers continue to provide incredible service to Yukoners even though they have been without a deal for almost two years. The cost-of-living crisis is hurting all of us, and things have only worsened over the decade. The Yukon government must recognize the value thousands of public sector workers bring to this territory.

Licensed Practical Nurses like Tiara Topps have spent countless hours serving Yukoners because they love their job. Workers across the Yukon continue to do "middle-class jobs" without "middle-class pay". In this cost-of-living crisis, many Yukoners struggle to start a family because the finances just don't add up. When workers earn a good wage, they are more likely to put down roots here and start families. We believe every worker should have the financial means to raise their children well, and we hope the largest employer in the Yukon recognizes the hardships parents across the territories face as they try to give their kids a reasonable, good life. Workers have been without a deal for almost two years, and we urge the Yukon's largest employer to act before the cost-of-living crisis worsens further.

Primary Care Paramedics like Kennedy Kneller work day and night to keep Yukoners safe and healthy. In emergencies, they show up to support us whenever we need them. All we ask of the Yukon Government is a deal that reflects the value workers bring to the table. As the cost-of-living crisis continues to worsen, we have been without a fair deal for almost two years.

The deadline for the 2026 Yukon Employees' Union bursary is just over two weeks away – August 31st.

We are offering 28 bursaries to our members and their dependents for the 2026/2027 school year.

From May 2025-May 2026, CPI in Whitehorse increased 5.5%
Compared to a national average of 3.2%
