The Lone Ridge Kids Club was back in action this week with a paper mache or as one child called it paper magic project. A messy time was had by all. Check back in a couple of months to see what these paper covered balloons will be. A Dino egg? A piggy bank? A penguin? Time will tell. Still room to register if you want to join in the fun!

October 14/26: Printmaking project and bake cheese biscuits

November 18/26: Use found treasures to build your own structure

December 9/26: Make Christmas decorations and cards

January 13/27: Weave a fabric wall hanging

February 10/27: Make a pop up book for Valentine’s

March 10/27: Finish paper mache project. Paint in the style of Dutch abstract painter Mondrian

April 14/27: Make a surprise Mother’s Day gift

Lone Ridge Crafty is a group of 10-12 local ladies who gather each Monday, September through May, to share in their love for quilting. Part of the group’s focus is to give back to the community. One Monday a month is set aside to sew compassion quilts from donated and purchased fabric and batting.

In 2025 the group donated 35 quilts/quilted items: 11 quilts to the Bags of Love foster kid program, 7 quilts to the women’s shelter in Camrose, 2 quilts to the Quilts of Valour program for veterans, 8 quilts to local area residents and 7 quilted items to the hall fall supper to be auctioned off with the funds going to Wetaskiwin MediLend.

Way to go ladies!

The glue guns were out as our Lone Ridge artisan kids were busy crafting gifts for their moms and dads for their special days. Thanks to Marilyn for donating many of the items used.

This marks the end of kids club for this round. Watch in August for our fourth year of activities with paper mache, printmaking, weaving and more building and painting projects planned.

Also special thanks go out to Corey, Charlotte, Joanne and Aileen for their assistance with the program as well as the many parents and grandparents who stepped in to help. Thank you all!
