Our Rotary Club’s June 1st meeting was very “powerful”. President Kathleen invited Rotarian Aundrea Thompson, to introduce our guest speaker, Holly Gray, Administrative Assistant at Wasaga Distribution. Holly gave an “electrifying” talk on how local electricity is generated, transmitted and distributed to homes and businesses Wasaga Beach. The power is generated by companies like Ontario Power Generation, transmitted across the province by Hydro One, and then handed off to Wasaga Distribution to handle the final delivery to your doorstep. Holly handled questions from members and we wrapped up with 50/50. Next meeting will be on Monday June 8, 6 pm at The RecPlex, in Wasaga Beach. Please join us.

During our Rotary Meeting on May 25, we celebrated Rotarian Steve Wallace’s 71st Birthday. President Kathleen introduced President Elect Kevin de Groot who chaired our Community Conversations panel of Rotary Exchange Students: Ava Pratt, Sofia Pedrosa and Rotary Youth Leadership Student Anika Furtado. Rotarian Kevin asked each student questions on the theme of Youth, Our Future Leaders. Some of the areas of discussion were: The Role Young People Have in Decision Making, Jobs, Transportation and Environmental Concerns. One student discussed her interest in the development of a Thriving Integrated Community. Young people are not given the voice they deserve in helping adult leaders in our society. When Kevin asked all three students who has inspired them, all three mentioned their Mothers. Platinum Sponsors of Community Conversations are: CorvetteLottery.com
Baker Tilley, Assisting You Social, Ainley Associates. Gold Sponsors : PRO FIT Window and Door. Door Prize sponsored by Tim Hortons.
