The Vulcan Library was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Student Leader Initiative Group from CCHS had a week long event acknowedging Dolly Parton 9/25 Childhood Literacy and Education. This group consists of students in grades 9 - 12 and there are approximately 20 students that form this group. Grade 11 teacher Taylor MacLeod brought the idea to the group and they ran with it. Students made items for a bake sale where baking could be purchased by donating books or buying with cash. All items baked came from Dolly Parton's Good Lookin' Cookin' Recipie Book. On Friday they had a Spirit Day where students could dress as their favorite charactor in a children's book. The full donation was 3 boxes of children's books and $100.00. We at the library also had a Donation Jar set up for Dolly 9/25 and collected $350.00 towards the purchase of new Childrens' Books in our library. We would like to thank the supporting teachers who guide this group, everyone who contributed to help their success and ours here as well. We live in a fantastic community.
