Save Ontario Pitbulls

Save Ontario Pitbulls Fight against the BSL Law in Ontario. Help remove this law and create a new law that prevents anyone Also will help out rescues that we work closely with.

Save Ontario’s “Pitbulls” is vehemently against Breed Specific Legislation. Research, science, and history demonstrate that only with breed neutral laws can the public truly be safe from dangerous dogs. We support the peer reviewed studies confirming that there is no such thing as a "dangerous breed", and that owner accountability should be paramount in any law to be effective. We push for mandat

ed education programs for children to learn proper etiquette around dogs, and strive for cities and municipalities to provide guidance and educational materials to dog owners on request

Save Ontario “Pitbulls” is not a registered charity nor a non-profit organization. 100% of all donations assist in defraying costs of Anti-BSL initiatives.

Not our normal posts

Today brought some news I wasn’t expecting to hear.

Got the results back, and it turns out I’m dealing with cerebral atrophy and white matter atrophy, likely tied to CTE. It’s a lot to process, to be completely honest. News like this hits you like a ton of bricks, and it takes a minute to really process what it all means moving forward.
I’m sharing this not for pity, but to keep it real. Life throws curveballs, and sometimes you just have to lace up, face the reality head-on, and control what you can control. I’ve got an incredible network around me, and I’m taking this one day at a time, one step at a time.

Thankful for everyone who stands in my corner no matter what. Time to adapt, keep pushing, and keep moving forward. 👊

To every candidate running for Mayor and Council in Renfrew:

My vote in this election belongs to the animals who can’t speak for themselves. 🐶🐱

I will not support, vote for, or put up a lawn sign for any candidate who isn't willing to enact a physical, written, breed-neutral bylaw in Renfrew—just like the City of Ottawa has written into code with its

Animal Care and Control By-law No. 2003-077. Informal promises aren't enough. Ottawa's written bylaw focuses on animal behavior, health, and guardian accountability rather than enforcing discriminatory BSL.

BSL is also directly linked to Ontario’s Animal for Research Act, which poses a serious threat to shelter and lost animals. Pets aren’t property—they are sentient beings, and I vote with their protection at the forefront.

While Renfrew faces many important issues, I will always be a voice for our pets. Candidates: where do you stand on adopting a physical, breed-neutral bylaw for our town?

Voters and candidates seeking municipal election information can check the Town of Renfrew Elections Portal.

As we approach the upcoming Ontario provincial by-elections, we encourage all residents and candidates in Scarborough Southwest, York—Simcoe, and Hamilton East—Stoney Creek to engage in a constructive dialogue about critical animal welfare and public safety policies.

We believe the most effective approach to dog-related legislation is one that is modern, humane, and evidence-based. This includes moving toward breed-neutral community safety laws that focus on responsible pet ownership and individual dog behavior, rather than appearance. Research across various jurisdictions suggests that this model is the most effective way to protect both the public and families.

Furthermore, we must re-examine policies like pound-sourcing under the Animals for Research Act. In a compassionate Ontario, our priority should be ensuring that lost and abandoned animals in municipal shelters are given every opportunity for rehabilitation and rehoming, not transfer to research facilities.

We call on candidates from all parties to commit to reviewing and updating these acts. By working together on thoughtful, data-driven solutions, we can create communities that value the safety and well-being of all members—both human and four-legged.

🚨 Ontario By-Elections! We're demanding a better Ontario. 🚨

We call on the Ontario Liberal candidates in Scarborough Southwest, York-Simcoe, and Hamilton East-Stoney Creek to commit to change.

Our pets are family. Let’s protect them by:

1️⃣ Ending Breed-Specific Legislation (BSL). Judge the DEED, not the BREED.

2️⃣ Ending pound-sourcing under the Animals for Research Act. Lost pets deserve loving homes, not laboratory cages.

This is our chance to recognize past mistakes and commit to better, humane laws that work.

🗳️ Use your voice. Vote for compassionate change in your by-election.

Best Friends in the Making 🐾✨

If you've ever wondered why bully breed mixes make such incredible family dogs, these photos tell the whole story! Known for their playful energy, gentle nature, and total devotion to their human siblings, they thrive when they are right in the middle of all the action.

Here’s a look at what’s happening in these moments:

Pure Play Energy: Happy, panting, and ready to go! Whether it's chasing after huge play balls in the yard or keeping up with my sons adventures, their sturdy frame and fun-loving spirit mean they’re always game for playtime.

The Gentle Shadow: Notice how the pup sticks close by? Bully mixes are famous for their "velcro" tendencies, staying near their favorite small humans, keeping a watchful eye, and offering calm companionship wherever the day leads.

Patience & Bonding: From hanging out around the porch to exploring near the swingset, these dogs love sharing simple, everyday moments with kids. Their naturally affectionate temperament makes them loving, patient partners in crime.

There’s truly nothing quite like watching my son and his new friend 🐶

Teamwork makes the dream work for these rescue babies! 🚐💙🐾

Today, Save Ontario Pitbulls hit the road to the Brockville Spay and Neuter Clinic Lanark Leeds Grenville Spay

When we saw a post from Riverview Rescues Riverview Rescues looking for a driver to transport cats out for spay, neuter, and microchipping services, we stepped up to lend a hand for these sweet, sentient beings.

Things got off to a rocky start when the rental van fell through, but rescue work is all about adapting! Another awesome volunteer, and I loaded up our trucks to make sure the trip happened. In the end, everything worked out for these little ones, the rescue team, and their dedicated guardians.

Plus, we brought along one of our own Save Ontario Pitbulls pups to get spayed, making it a huge win for all involved! 🐕✨ with a assist from Riverview Rescues on getting Winnie our new chihuahua on the list.

🐾 Jon Bernthal said it best: fearing an entire breed is pure prejudice. 🐾
"To be afraid of a breed of dog is completely ridiculous. It’s like being afraid of somebody for their race..." — Jon Bernthal
He’s spot on. The fear and stigma around Pitbull-type dogs isn't based on facts—it's based on profiling:
1️⃣ Appearance over Reality: "Pitbull" is just a visual label slapped on blocky-headed dogs. Judging a dog's heart by its coat or jawline is arbitrary bias.
2️⃣ Media Double Standards: Pitbulls get headlines; other breeds get ignored. Selective reporting creates a cycle of false fear.
3️⃣ Blame the Leash, Not the Breed: Temperament comes down to environment, care, and training. Irresponsible owners are the problem—not the dogs.
4️⃣ Systemic Injustice: BSL bans gentle family pets based purely on physical traits, mirroring human social stigmas and institutional profiling.
Veterinary experts agree: behavior is individual. It's time to end breed discrimination, tear down BSL, and judge the leash—not the look. ❤️🐶
