Local 675 is proud to participate in the Toronto Labour Day Parade, and we want our members and their families marching alongside us! ✊💪

🗓️ Monday, September 7
⏰ Meet us at 9:30 a.m.
📍 University Avenue southbound, north of Armoury Street and south of Dundas Street

🚌 Bus departs from our office at 222 Rowntree Dairy Road at 8:30 a.m.
🔙 The return bus departs downtown at 1:45 p.m.

On site, it’s easy to say “Just keep working.”

But people don’t always just need instructions: sometimes they need to be seen.

Asking “Hey, what’s on your mind?” or “How can I help you succeed?” can make a real difference in how someone is doing.

Small check-ins can go a long way.

A big thank you to all our Local 675 members who came out to the Toronto Pride Parade! Pride highlights the importance of ensuring everyone is welcomed and valued. Our union brotherhood and sisterhood are strongest when we support each other, creating a truly united community for all.

The way we respond to someone can either push them away or make them feel supported.

“You’ll figure it out” can leave someone feeling dismissed.

Asking “What’s going on?” or “Do you want to talk?” creates space for real conversation and shows that you are there to listen.

Taking a moment to check in can make a difference.

The words we choose can either make someone feel alone or remind them that support is always there.

“Just deal with it” can make it harder for someone to reach out.

Reminding someone that there are resources available and that asking for help does not make them any less can change how they see their situation.

Support is always there. Sometimes people just need to hear it.

The Truth Is:

It involves precise measurements, structural knowledge, understanding of building codes, and coordination across multiple trades.

What looks simple on the surface demands high skill, problem-solving, and attention to detail to ensure everything is safe, durable, and aesthetically up to par.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is not just a day of recognition. It is a call to listen, learn, and reflect.

Indigenous peoples are leaders, knowledge keepers, and stewards of the land. Their traditions, perspectives, and contributions continue to shape communities across the country.

Today, we honour their history, and reaffirm the importance of respecting their rights, as well as learning from and protecting their ways of life.

There is something special about learning the trade alongside your father.

Jose and Adrian Ribeiro have been working together in the union for eight years. What started as a simple “You don’t know. Come and work with me!” turned into a shared path, shared skills, and a lot of shared laughs on site.

Working alongside your dad is not always easy. When disagreements happen, they have to work through it and move forward together, because at the end of the day, they are family first, and that matters the most.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers who pass along not just skills, but a way of life.
