Today, on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), we’re reflecting on a powerful conversation hosted earlier this week by TPL’s Pride Alliance at the Toronto Reference Library.

TPLF team members joined a fireside chat and Q&A with Heated Rivalry cast member and 2SLGBTQ+ advocate Harrison Browne and award-winning journalist Rachel Browne, exploring what real allyship looks like across sports, media, and the workplace—and how narratives, visibility, and action shape inclusion.

It was a meaningful opportunity to listen, learn, and reaffirm our commitment to building a workplace and community where everyone feels safe, supported, and able to show up as their full selves.

The TPLF team had the opportunity to tour the TD Gallery's "Loops, Swoops & Curlicues: A Legacy of Handwritten History" with Alicia, Gallery and Exhibits Curator at Toronto Public Library.

From a tablet dating back to 2112–2004 BCE to 19th-century petitions advocating for Toronto’s first public libraries, the exhibition offered a fascinating look into the stories and artifacts preserved within TPL’s Special Collections.

It was also a reminder of how donor support helps bring these archives to life for the public—creating free opportunities for visitors to connect with our shared cultural history. In 2012, the gallery was expanded and revitalized thanks to the generous support of TD. Now, the gallery presents multiple free exhibitions each year, inviting the community to explore the remarkable treasures held within TPL.

Don't miss the next one, opening on May 30th!

Our Spring Campaign has officially launched 🌱

For so many young people across the city, Toronto Public Library is more than just a place to borrow books. It’s a safe space to learn, create, connect, and imagine what’s possible for their future.

Through free after-school programs, learning support, and welcoming community spaces, TPL helps kids and teens build confidence, find belonging, and access opportunities they may not otherwise have.

This spring, you can help open even more doors for Toronto’s youth.

And thanks to the generous support of Good Future Family Foundation, every donation will be matched—meaning your gift will have 2X the impact, until May 31st.
