THE MURAL IS HERE 🎨🔥

In collaboration with acclaimed Montréal muralist Fluke, we’re bringing the beauty of wildlife to the heart of Le District Central and we’re beyond excited for you to see the finished piece!

🐝 Featuring a bumblebee, a coyote, a falcon and a humpback whale and her calf, every detail tells a story of connection, coexistence and hope for a future where animals can thrive. Created with Fluke’s six-year-old daughter Amaya at its heart, it’s a reminder
that protecting animals starts with curiosity, compassion and the choices we make today.

The mural is situated in District Central’s Chabanel sector, an urban and industrial area where efforts are underway to introduce more biodiversity and green space.

Another tragic loss. 💔 Caspian, a 27-year-old female beluga transferred from Marineland to Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, has died. She is now the sixth whale or dolphin to die among the 34 animals transferred from Marineland to accredited aquariums in the U.S. and Spain.

These relocations were decided under extraordinary pressure, with Marineland stating it would cease medical care “and instead will euthanize these animals.” These animals deserved better, with carefully planned solutions that put their individual health and welfare first.

We also cannot lose sight of the bigger issue. We need to stop creating new generations of whales and dolphins who will spend their lives in tanks for our entertainment. Governments around the world should support the development of seaside sanctuaries and help phase out the use of whales and dolphins for entertainment globally.

Enough is enough. This must be the last generation.

For Fluke, including his daughter was not simply an artistic decision. She inspired the central idea behind the mural. 🧡

And so, the mural places his six-year-old daughter, Amaya, at its heart, surrounded by wildlife including a bumble bee, coyote, falcon, and a humpback whale and her calf. Each species represents a different aspect of the relationship between people, animals
and nature, from biodiversity and urban coexistence to the responsibility we share in protecting the planet for the next generation.

By painting it alongside his daughter, the process itself becomes part of the artwork’s message: one generation passing on values of compassion and responsibility while also learning from the perspective of the next.

➡️ Mother pigs are confined to cages the size of a fridge, which are so small they can't even turn around or scratch an itch

➡️ Most dairy cows are forced to live in stalls where they are tethered by the neck 24/7 for most of their lives 🐮

➡️ Factory farmed chickens often have a space smaller than a piece of paper to live in, in barns crammed with thousands of chickens 🐣

➡️ They will spend most of their lives sitting or lying in their own waste

For so many of us, our love for and connection to animals dates back to childhood.

For mural artist Fluke, his daughter Amaya represents the next generation and the world they will share with wildlife. But she also represents the sense of wonder and curiosity that so many of us felt as children.

Art alone can’t protect wildlife. But it can remind us why we want to. Because the wonder we feel as children can stay with us for a lifetime. What matters is what we choose to do with it.

In the middle of Montréal’s District Central, a building wall is becoming a canvas for a conversation about animals. We are thrilled to team up with Montréal muralist Fluke to bring this mural project to life, connecting art, science and philanthropy along the way. As the painting progresses, so does a bigger story about our relationship with wildlife, one layer of paint at a time.
