Why we're feeling optimistic:
Last year was our biggest year yet:
We provided 216 (!!) food aid organizations with more than just meals:
We bought delivery trucks, fridges, freezers, kitchen appliances, a forklift and a whole greenhouse!
You know, things that last and make it easier to feed more people for cheaper.
All that while spending 83% of our budget directly on our mission.
But that’s not all...
We’re seeing a HUGE shift in the way hunger is talked about.
Before, headlines were about food bank shortages and school lunch programs.
Now, we’re finally seeing talk of root-cause solutions in the news.
People are starting to understand that the solutions we were using so far are just not sustainable.
That with prices going up, food donations are just not enough.
We need to give people an actual plan.
That’s why our new mission includes granting to organizations that work on long-term solutions for hunger.
Plus, we’re doing something that’s never been done before:
We’re starting the Jewish Hunger Network:
A collective of Jewish organizations like shuls, schools and JCCs, working together to fight hunger within and beyond our community.
We're bringing Chutzpah to the national conversation on behalf of Jews everywhere.
But we can't speak for our people without our people behind us.
Every dollar counts as we raise funds for our next round of frontline grants.
