Five years ago, BFN opened its doors with a table, a question, and eleven founders brave enough to walk through.
What happened next is a story we have been building every single day since - in cohort rooms, on pitch stages, in funding conversations, and in the quiet moments where a founder realised for the first time that they were not alone in this.

This is the BFN at 5 - a glimpse into five years of building Black entrepreneurship in Canada, told by the people who lived it.
Also available on YouTube, link in bio.

And if this moves you even a little - come see the full story. The BFN at 5 Anniversary Documentary premieres live at Demo Day: The Fifth Chapter on October 2nd. You do not want to miss the room when the lights go down. ✨

Thing 1 of 5 👀

Founders on the stage. You decide the winner.
Smart Start, Accelerate, and Scale founders pitch live - and the Viewer’s Choice Award goes to whoever YOU vote for.

This is not a spectator sport. Come ready to engage. 🗳️

Thing 2 of 5 🎬

A film premiere you genuinely do not want to miss.
Five years of BFN - told by the people who built it. The BFN at 5 Anniversary Film and short documentary series screens for the first time tonight, in this room. You are part of history. ✨

Thing 3 of 5 🏆

An award ceremony for people who actually changed the game.
Not going to say too much. Just do not step away when the awards begin. Some names are going to be called and you will want to be standing in the room when they are. 💙

Thing 4 of 5 🍽️

An Afrofusion buffet and an open celebration to close the night.

Great food. Great music. Great people. The evening ends with an open celebration and trust us - you will want to stay for it.

Also - food is on a first come, first served basis just like the seats. You already know what that means. Come early. 👀

Thing 5 of 5 - and this one is the most important 🚨
This is a limited seated event. First come, first served.

⚠️ DISCLAIMER
The main auditorium has limited seats and entry is on a first come, first served basis. If you are registered and strolling in at 7PM dressed your absolute best - we love you, but we cannot promise you a seat OR a plate.

The event starts at 4:00 PM. That means be there before 4:00 PM. Not at 4. Not “on my way” at 4. There. 💙

We want everyone in the room. Do not let your tardiness be the reason you miss it.
Be early. ⏰

Okay you have read all five. So what are you waiting for? 🎉

They came with an idea. BFN gave them a room.

In the spirit of celebrating five years, we sat down with founders from past cohorts to hear what brought them to BFN - and what happened after they walked through the door.

Their stories are just the beginning. Come hear what comes next.

We said it was going to be a night worth showing up for. And it was. 🙌🔥

Summer Showcase 2026 brought together our Smart Start, Accelerate, and Scale founders, our BCAP talent, investors, partners, and a community that never stops showing up for each other. The floor was alive, the conversations were real, and the connections made on June 24th are ones that will carry forward.
Thank you to everyone who was in the room with us. BFN at 5 is just getting started. 🌱

The gallery is now live — link in bio to relive the night and grab your photos.
