Menstrual Health Beyond Stigma Workshop Recap 🎉

On May 3rd, 2026, we hosted our first Beyond Stigma workshop at Ralph Thornton Community Centre in Toronto, bringing together community members, volunteers, and partners for a day focused on menstrual health advocacy, period equity, and community care.

The educational session was led by Lilaani from .ca who shared insights on menstrual health language, advocacy, and strengthening support systems for vulnerable communities, while also highlighting the impact of rising living costs and inequality.

Volunteers then packaged reusable menstrual products for 56 young girls facing period poverty and product insecurity 💜

We’re so grateful to have hosted this workshop and to Lilaani for leading such an impactful session. This was an important step in creating safe spaces for education, advocacy, and community impact.

We’re also looking for passionate volunteers to support our future events and Beyond Stigma monthly workshops in Toronto.

Wednesday Woman: 🌿 Berta Cáceres

Berta Cáceres was a fearless Lenca Indigenous leader and environmental activist from La Esperanza, Honduras. Born the youngest of 12, she grew up during political unrest

At 19, Berta co-founded the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH), uniting Lenca communities and giving them a platform to defend their land and rights. She led campaigns against illegal logging, harmful development projects, and the intrusion of US military bases, while also supporting feminism, LGBTQ+ rights, and broader social justice causes

Her courage and vision inspired local and global movements. Even after her assassination in 2016, Berta’s legacy continues to motivate activists worldwide to fight for justice, equality, and the planet 🌎💚
