At the Alliance for Healthier Communities Annual Conference, conversations focused on advancing health equity and ensuring everyone has access to primary care. Alliance for Healthier Communities / Alliance pour des communautés en santé

Reena is proud to be part of these important discussions, advocating for the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities and other communities that continue to face barriers to equitable healthcare access.

As work continues to expand Ontario's primary care system, it is essential that individuals with developmental disabilities are recognized as a priority population and have access to coordinated, accessible, and person-centred care.

Through our advocacy efforts and our work to establish the Thornhill Community Health Centre, Reena is helping advance a healthcare system where everyone belongs, everyone is seen, and everyone can access the care they need.

Thank you to the Alliance for Healthier Communities for creating space for these important conversations and to all partners working to build a more inclusive and equitable future.

June is Seniors Month in Ontario

In Jewish tradition, honouring our elders is more than a value—it is a responsibility. We recognize the wisdom, experience, and contributions of older adults, and the important role they play in strengthening our families and communities.

This year's Seniors Month theme, "Ontario Seniors – Let's Get Moving," celebrates the importance of helping seniors remain active, engaged, and connected. At Reena, this commitment is reflected through our Senior Active Living Centre (SALC) program, which supports older adults with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, and socially isolated community members through meaningful activities, wellness programming, and community participation.

This Seniors Month, Reena is proud to celebrate not only the seniors we support, but also the Province of Ontario's continued investment in helping older adults remain active and connected. Today, MPP Laura Smith and MPP Stephen Lecce announced that Reena's Seniors Active Living Centre in Vaughan will receive $57,640 in annual funding, helping us continue to provide programs that promote physical well-being, reduce social isolation, and create opportunities for seniors to stay engaged in their communities.

Located at the Schwartz Reisman Centre, Reena's SALC offers wellness and fitness activities, social recreation, swimming, gardening, health promotion sessions, and connections to healthcare partners that support healthy aging and independence. Every senior deserves opportunities to stay active, build friendships, and remain connected to their community. This Seniors Month, Reena celebrates the older adults who inspire us with their resilience, wisdom, and lifelong contributions.

On Sunday, May 31st, the REENA ALL STAR CHOIR was honoured to participate in the Volume 2, a musical r***e showcasing local talent in support of .

We came, we sang, we smiled, we cheered. Most importantly, we felt loved, accepted, and valued. Surrounded by an incredible community of performers, families, volunteers, and supporters, we were reminded of the power of belonging and inclusion.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised over $60,000 in support of Reena’s Adult Respite Program, helping provide individuals with developmental disabilities a safe and nurturing environment while offering families a much-needed break and source of support.

Every note we sang reflected the spirit of Reena. Together, we were more than a choir—we were one unified voice.
