This past Sunday we celebrated 20 years of DANI as a community, at DANI's 20th Birthday Bash! 🎉

We were so lucky to have participants, staff, volunteers, alumni, and community members come together to reminisce about the last 20 years and all we have accomplished together. From a parent-led action group with a little house on McAllister street, to two full-scale campuses and a third on the way—we have a lot that is worth celebrating 🧡

After celebrating DANI's 20th Anniversary with a community celebration, we gathered in the evening to celebrate the 40th birthday of Danny Laszlo—one of the people who inspired everything we do 🧡

It was a beautiful evening of delicious food and warm memories, looking back on Kathy and Danny's journey over the past 20 years. Guests got the chance to hear Kathy's inspiring story firsthand at a fireside chat moderated by Melissa Lantsman and reminisce about the early days of DANI.

As we look back on this celebratory weekend, we want to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who has helped us get to this momentous occasion. Whether it was through time, donations, advice, or expertise, we are surrounded by the most dedicated staff, community and volunteers who make our work possible.

We’re only partway through 2026, and we’ve already got so much to look back on! In February, we raised over $700,000 towards opening our third campus, so we can expand to meet the needs of our community. We were also awarded the PepsiCo Foundation’s Community Impact Award, recognizing our vocational initiatives, and celebrated another graduating cohort of STEP.

In 2025, we had many reasons to celebrate— we launched our Skills Training Employment Program (STEP), were presented with Mayor Del Duca’s Spirit of Generosity Award, opened our first brick-and-mortar gift store, and presented O’Dough’s with the inaugural Inclusive Employer Award. We also hosted the first DANI Golf Tournament, raising over $150,000 towards our programs and services.
