National Accessibility Week (May 31-June 6), is an opportunity to recognize that accessibility is about more than accommodations—it's about designing products, workplaces, and communities that work for everyone.

When DANI visited PepsiCo Canada headquarters in April, we were invited to participate in a focus group providing direct feedback on universal packaging design. We also took part in a merchandising workshop and networking sessions with PepsiCo employees. PepsiCo’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion is the kind of leadership we hope to see more companies embrace. Swipe through to see what inclusion looks like in practice ➡️

The holiday of Shavuot commemorates the Jewish people receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai. Tradition teaches that every Jewish soul was present for that moment—across all generations, past and future.

There's something profound in that image. The Torah wasn't given to a select few or to those deemed most capable. It was given to an entire people, in all their diversity, standing together as one. Inclusion wasn't an afterthought, it was the foundation of the moment itself.

That's the kind of community DANI works to build every day, and Shavuot is a beautiful reminder of why it matters.

Chag Sameach from all of us at DANI!🧡

DANI was thrilled to attend Mayor Steven Del Duca's official campaign launch yesterday. As a social service, we know how important it is to have civic leaders who listen, engage, and champion a city where everyone belongs.

We're proud to stand alongside leadership like Mayor Del Duca, who shares our commitment to accessibility and meaningful inclusion in the City of Vaughan. As local elections approach, we encourage everyone to get involved and make their voice heard. An inclusive city is a better city for everyone 🧡

We're proud to share that DANI recently visited PepsiCo Canada headquarters to officially accept our PepsiCo Foundation 2025 Community Impact Award, a $10,000 USD grant recognizing our work supporting vocational initiatives for neurodivergent adults.

The PepsiCo Foundation Community Impact Awards are nominated by PepsiCo employees to celebrate local organizations that are driving measurable impact in the areas of workforce development, food security, safe water access and farming. This grant will enable DANI to continue championing neurodivergent adults on their employment journey through our STEP and WorkWise initiatives. STEP (Skills Training Employment Program) offers hands-on, industry-recognized training in technology and hospitality, tailored for people who learn differently, adapting both curriculum and teaching style to meet each student’s needs. WorkWise pairs job seekers with on-site coaching and long-term workplace support, helping bridge the employment gap for neurodiverse individuals.

PepsiCo employees volunteered their time with DANI to host focus group sessions where our community could share their feedback on product packaging design, to help PepsiCo create packaging solutions that are more accessible for everyone. They also shared their expertise by leading a merchandising workshop, helping our job-seekers to add valuable skills to their resumes.

We were so inspired to see inclusion in action at PepsiCo, through the education and advocacy initiatives created by their EnAble Employee Resource group. Thank you to the PepsiCo Foundation for honouring DANI with this award, and to the team at PepsiCo Canada for helping to build inclusive workplaces.

May is Jewish Heritage Month, and to celebrate, we’re highlighting three remarkable Jewish disability activists whose leadership helped shape the modern disability rights movement.

Judith Heumann, Neil Jacobson, and Denise Sherer Jacobson each drew on their Jewish values, lived experience, and unwavering commitment to justice to transform how our communities understand disability, accessibility, and inclusion. Their advocacy continues to open doors, change laws, and inspire new generations of leaders.

➡️ Swipe through to learn more about their stories and lasting impact, and explore how Jewish activists have been at the heart of disability rights from the very beginning.
