Although it was hard to compete with a sunny Sunday outside, we were grateful for the opportunity to host a table at this past weekend's Legacy Expo, a safe space to explore what Ottawa has to offer related to community death care.

Grief and loss experienced by frontline workers is emerging as an under supported area, but we are fortunate to have two of our team members (Kayla and Daniel) involved in death doula training to begin to address this gap, as we also explore collaborations with Home Hospice Association and Compassionate Ottawa.

The Legacy Expo is Coming to Ottawa June 6–8, 2025!

The Ottawa Legacy Expo is a weekend-long series of events designed to help individuals and families navigate the often-overwhelming topics of end-of-life planning, elder care, advanced care directives, and legacy creation. Proceeds from this event will support the H.O.P.E. Mobile Hospice, a Home Hospice Association pilot program that will bring compassionate end-of-life care directly to people living on the streets.

How to Talk With Kids about Death

~May 20 - 6pm ~ Free ~ In-person ~ Ottawa

Discussing death with children and young adults can be challenging and many tend to avoid the conversations altogether. But death, just like birth, is a natural part of our lives. In partnership with Dignity Memorial, this workshop for adults will explore different developmental stages and strategies and techniques for how to both listen and talk with young people about dying, death and grief. Are these appropriate conversations for young people? Absolutely! In fact, their mental health might depend on it. To register for this workshop, please send an email to our host partner at Dignity Memorial: [email protected]
