The ministry of health issued an alert after multiple hospitalizations were required. Drugs were sold as M**A but contained co***ne, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Please call 911 immediately if someone is overdosing. Remember the Good Samaritan Act protects those involved from criminal charges. Carry naloxone and stay safe. 🛑

Nine years ago, the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act became law in Canada. Its purpose is to reduce fear and offer some legal protection for individuals who experience or witness a suspected overdose and seek emergency help; ultimately encouraging people to call 9-1-1. During an overdose, the priority of police is to save lives and support a safe emergency response.

We recognize the complex challenges of substance use and addiction and their intersection with public safety. Through a whole-of-city, health-led, approach, we continue to support responses to overdoses wherever possible – and so can you!

Familiarize yourself with and tell others about the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act; you could be the difference in saving a life.
