Alex House For over 100 years, Alex House has been contributing to a vibrant, inclusive, and caring community!

Alex House is a volunteer-driven organization, with more than 4,000 volunteer hours contributed each year. Activities include family support and early childhood development programs, child and youth programs, programs for people with disabilities including residential camps, residential camps for teen and young moms and low income families, seniors programs, adult and community programs/events, pr

ograms for newcomers/new immigrants and infant/toddler, preschool and school-age childcare. Community programs are delivered at our Camp Alexandra site; child, youth and family programs are delivered through our Vine Avenue Child Youth and Family Centre in White Rock, and childcare programs are provided collaboratively with the City of Surrey at Kensington Prairie Community Centre

Alex House stands with our Muslim Colleagues, Neighbours and Friends. We condemn the racist incident that occurred at the Fleetwood Islamic Centre, and call on all Canadians to speak up against Islamophobia and other forms of racist rhetoric and acts of hate.

Our community is stronger when we respect the diverse voices and experiences of our neighbours. At Alex House we work to bring people from diverse backgrounds together to learn from each other.

We encourage others to embrace opportunities to learn about the many cultures that make up what is colonially known as Canada.

We also encourage our neighbours to learn about the Coast Salish worldview to honour the Indigenous People who welcomed the first settlers, and continue to welcome us today. Semiahmoo First Nation, Katzie First Nation, and Kwantlen First Nation are the First Peoples of Surrey, the only people who were not settlers. Everyone else is lives on stolen and occupied land, we are all settlers regardless of how long we or our ancestors have lived here.
