Regular testing confirms that Stonewall’s drinking water remains safe for consumption.

If your home, business, farm, or non-profit organization was impacted by the recent flooding, Provincial Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) representatives are available today and tomorrow to answer questions and help guide you through the recovery process.

Staff can help with:
✅ DFA eligibility questions
✅ Completing applications

🚰 NOTICE: FREE WATER TESTING FOR FLOOD-AFFECTED PRIVATE WELLS

The Province of Manitoba is now offering 100% coverage for eligible private well water testing for residents impacted by Spring 2026 flooding.

⚠️ Please note:
• Municipal water systems have not been impacted
• If you receive a water bill from the Town, this program does not apply to you

🧪 Testing kits will be available for pickup at Town Hall starting June 18

📅 Sample drop-off dates:
• Monday, June 22 (before 10:00 AM)
• Wednesday, June 24 (before 10:00 AM)

🌿 STONEWALL CEMETERY UPDATE 🌿

The Stonewall Cemetery remains closed to the public at this time as crews continue maintenance and repair work following the recent flooding event.

We understand how important this space is to many families and appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the cemetery is safe and accessible for visitors.

At this time, the cemetery is expected to reopen to the public in time for Father’s Day on Sunday, June 21.

If your home, business, farm, or non-profit organization was impacted by the recent flooding, representatives from the Provincial Recovery and Mitation Team will be in Stonewall to help.

550 Main Street, Stonewall

📅 June 19 & 20
⏰ 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Staff will be available to:
✔ Answer questions about DFA eligibility and applications
✔ Assist with completing applications
✔ Provide support regarding inspections, if required

🧠 Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority Mental Health Resource Team (11 AM to 7 PM both days)
🏠 Manitoba Health Inspectors to provide guidance on flood clean-up and safe re-entry to homes

Paper DFA applications are available at the Town Office for residents who do not have internet access or are unable to print forms.

If you experienced overland flooding, sewage backup, power outage impacts, or other flood-related damages, we encourage you to attend and speak directly with Provincial representatives.

💧 PLEASE HELP REDUCE WATER USE 💧

The Town of Stonewall is asking residents to continue limiting non-essential water use as our wastewater system recovers from the recent rainfall event.

Lagoon levels remain extremely high, and every litre of water that goes down a drain eventually makes its way to the lagoon. Small reductions in water use across the community can make a significant difference.

Residents are encouraged to:
• Delay laundry when possible
• Run dishwashers only with full loads
• Take shorter showers
• Turn off taps while brushing teeth or shaving
• Avoid unnecessary water use around the home
• Postpone large cleaning projects that require significant water use
