On this day in 1945, after six years of bitter fighting, the Second World War officially came to an end.

“More than one million Canadians and Newfoundlanders served in uniform, both here at home and around the world. Over 45,000 of our brave men and women in uniform gave their lives and another 55,000 were wounded.”

Big shout out to our volunteers for the recycling project (not all are in the photo) , that's a wrap on our annual fundraiser and our branch is guaranteed to stay open for our 80th Anniversary next year!

Thank you to the Environment team on the farm, you guys rocked it this year and we appreciate it!

Also big thank you to The Salmo Valu Mart for assisting us on the processing and providing the area needed to run such a big project.

We got Gabe! He will be awarded to one of our recycling volunteers during our thank you BBQ later in the summer. Recycling is on a down day tomorrow, will let everyone know after that on the next start date.

Thank you to all our volunteers for making our Anniversary party such a fun afternoon.

Thank you to the Lions for cooking in that heat, and to our Ladies Auxiliary for their valued help in the food delivery, our games team Patty, Stacy, Colleen, Rita, Denise, Felicia

Patty for wearing a T-Rex costume, and our facilities team, Ed, Brandy, Mike, Rob, Steve, Frank, Keith, Bill and the extra help from Jerry, and Bob.

If I missed anyone I truly apologize and I appreciate everyone's time.

Our next volunteer opportunity starts in a few days with the annual recycling project if you are able bodied and available in the mornings please reach out. Help one day or help for the whole event, it's expected to take up to 10 days once we get going.
