πŸ„ Press Release: Dairy Club Judging Night and Achievement Day

πŸ… We had our judging night at the Russell Fairgrounds on July 29th. We judged muffins, beets, extension cords, water bottles, cut flowers in vases, antiques, fudge, meat goats, and dairy cattle. After, we did a quiz. We also had volunteers and leaders say the final reasons to each class.

πŸŽ‰ Our Achievement day was held in Navan on August 7th. We had breakfast sandwiches and hashbrowns for breakfast. The show started around 10am. The show went well; everybody did great. I hope everyone had a great time. Everybody worked hard on their project and they should be proud of themselves.

4-H Cloverbuds July Meeting Press Report

The Cloverbuds topic for our July meeting was β€œTie Dye”! We didn’t let the rain ruin our fun and the kids were good sports moving our plans indoors.

🌈 We started off the meeting learning about natural ways to dye fabrics with plants and foods. Then we started our own natural dye experiment with onions, blueberries, and beets.

🌈 Next we had a break in the rain so the kids grabbed their shirts and headed out to learn how to prepare fabric and dye it. Along with a special Cloverbuds banner!

🌈 We ended the meeting with some colour theory discussions before checking on our natural dye experiment. The kids all considered the sock dyeing a success but suspect the onion dye will cause stinky feet πŸ˜‚

Russell Dairy Club July Meeting Press Report

πŸ„ We had a meeting at Riverdown on July 16th. Over there, we had a guest speaker, Ina Henry, to talk about judging veggies and baked goods. After she spoke, we all headed outside to talk about weeds, then went to the heifer barn to talk about showmanship and practice it. To end the meeting, we talked about Avonmore and had snacks.
