A salvage yard is applying for the rezoning of agricultural land to industrial for its purposes next to our National Historic Site. This would mean there would be a scrap storage yard prior to the entrance to our beautiful park area. It is on the agenda for the Oct 13, 2026 Clearwater County meeting.
The Town posted this in the Mountaineer mid September.
Letters of concern can be sent to the Clearwater County in defence of our beautiful park area and the sense of welcoming this may affect. The sense calm, history, grounding and belonging that the historic site offers many locals and visitors is impeccable. There is a local admiration of David Thompson and the history of the Forts.
