Thank you Alberta Hospice Palliative Care for the beautiful feature of "The Compassionate Corner". This program was created by Marla Zapach, founder of A Good Transition, in partnership with the Compassionate Care Hospice Society.

The Compassionate Corner provides a safe space for our underserved & vulnerable populations to express and share their grief.

Why are we doing this?
The Compassionate corner was created from a recognized need within the diversability community in Rocky Mountain House. This community carries deep grief from a variety of losses and trauma. Access to services for this community are limited both financially and physically as few support resources exist in
rural communities and paid counselling is often beyond the ability of residents to access.

Our goal is to help people cope and adapt, share worries and insights, look for
teachable moments, reduce traumatic reactions, and enhance skill building and resilience.

CCHS would like to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to Amanda Fischer for participating in the Walk For Hospice last Saturday and securing the top spot for most pledges raised!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Amanda walked in memory of her sister Rebecca, who passed at the Cowichan Hospice in Duncan, BC. 💜

Amanda and her family experienced first hand what a gift hospice care is during those final days with Rebecca. 💕Hospice was a place that felt like home, with 24 hour nursing care provided by a kind and compassionate team. Hospice was a place to be together day & night, to enjoy meals, to laugh, to grieve, and simply just “be” with your loved one. All while knowing your family member is in the hands of an exceptional care team.🦋

Amanda, thank you for your longtime support of the Compassionate Care Hospice Society, and for sharing your story with us. It is because of supporters like you, that we are able to continue our mission of providing free hospice care & bereavement programs for our community members. “You don’t know until you know”. ❤️

Thank you Rocky Mountain House Search & Rescue for partnering with our society again this year for the annual Walk For Hospice! These fine folks assisted with traffic control and provided medics on bikes patrolling the route during the event. We sincerely appreciate your help filling these specialized volunteer postitions.💜
