Members of the Rotary Club of Port Elgin were out today supporting the Grey Bruce Hospice at the Hike for Hospice in Saugeen Shores. The rain did not stop us from coming together for a great cause and making the best of the day.

The work Grey Bruce Hospice does for individuals and families in our community is so important. Donations are still open for anyone who would like to support this amazing organization:

We had such a lovely visit today at the Chantry Seniors’ Centre, where they graciously hosted our Rotary club for lunch. The room was full of festive spirit, with so many seniors dressed head-to-toe in green for St. Patrick’s Day—while our group clearly missed the memo! (Oops!) ☘️

A special thank you to Connie, whose warm and welcoming personality makes the Centre such a joyful and lighthearted place to be. It’s easy to see how much care goes into creating such a fun and inclusive environment.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect and spend time together, and our club is looking forward to supporting the Chantry Seniors’ Centre with a future donation once details are finalized.

Students across our community wrapped up another fantastic Rotary Winterama on March 10!

Local schools took on a challenge from the Southampton Rotary Club, the Rotary club of Tara, and the Rotary Club of Port Elgin: if all their winter activity kilometres were combined, could they make it all the way to Milan by the end of the Winter Olympic Games?

They did it! Together, students logged the kilometres and raised an incredible $14,000 for their schools. Along the way, they also enjoyed sponsored skates with Bearama at the Shallow Lake Arena and the Port Elgin Plex.

Way to go, everyone! 👏

Our Rotary Club proudly participated in the Coldest Night of the Year walk yesterday, standing in solidarity with those facing homelessness and hardship in our community.

Thank you to everyone who supported this meaningful cause — whether you walked, donated, volunteered, or cheered us on! Your support makes a real difference, and we’re especially grateful to the Southampton Rotary Club for hosting such a wonderful event and bringing our community together.

Coldest Night of the Year: Saugeen Shores

A huge thank you to everyone who made today’s Shop with a Cop event such a success!

We’re so grateful to our event organizers, the Saugeen Shores Police Service, Vanderwerf's Independent Grocer, and of course the amazing staff and volunteers who helped bring this unique community experience to life.

Our Grade 6 shoppers had an absolute blast racing through the aisles alongside local police officers — putting their budgeting and teamwork skills to the test as they worked to get as close as possible to $300 in Food Bank–friendly items without going over!

Thanks to their enthusiasm and thoughtful choices, all items collected today will be shared between the Salvation Army and Saugeen First Nations Foodbanks, supporting families right here in our community.

This event is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when community partners come together — fun, learning, and service all wrapped into one unforgettable afternoon.

A heartfelt thank you to the educators who nominated students, to the officers who made the experience so special, and to the Rotary Clubs of Southampton, Saugeen Shores, and our Port Elgin club for proudly sponsoring this collaborative project.
