Our community is deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Andrea Jones — a remarkable physician, devoted mother of four hockey players, and the very definition of a hockey mom.
For decades, Dr. Jones treated countless hockey players, bringing compassion, expertise, and her signature wit and humour to every interaction. Her knowledge and experience were second to none, and she had a remarkable ability to calm the nerves of even the most anxious parents while keeping young athletes smiling through difficult moments.
Her dedication to sport extended far beyond the clinic. Dr. Jones served as the team physician/head trainer for the Hockey Canada U-18 National Women’s Program, the National Ball Hockey Association Senior and Junior Programs, the Penetang Kings Junior C hockey team, Penetang Minor Hockey, North Simcoe Girls Hockey Association and many other local sporting organizations.
Beyond her incredible professional contributions, Andrea was first and foremost a proud and supportive hockey mom to four players of her own. She understood the game, the players, and the families because she lived it every day.
Dr. Jones leaves behind a legacy that will live on in every rink and dressing room she touched. She was a legend in our hockey community and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Our thoughts are with her family, friends, players, and the many lives she touched.
Rest easy, Dr. Jones. Thank you for everything you gave to the game and to all the families who were fortunate enough to know you.
