Youth homelessness continues to be on the rise in Canada, and now more than ever youth need support. Youth make up approximately 20% of the homeless population in Canada, meaning each year at least 35,000 – 40,000 young Canadians have no place to call home. The Home Depot Foundation directly supports youth at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness. The Orange Door Project campaign is The Home Depot Canada Foundation’s bi-annual fundraising campaign to help prevent and end youth homelessness in Canada. From May 12- June 14, customers can donate in-store at the checkout at the Pembroke Home Depot store or on the website: OrangeDoorProject.ca in support of Columbus House. On May 23, 2026 all donations in store and online will be matched by The Home Depot Canada Foundation. Every dollar donated by customers in Pembroke will stay in our local community, and support Columbus House. Giving Back to their communities is a value that The Home Depot is founded on, and one that’s important to all associates, as it allows them to establish strong, local relationships with their communities.

As we near the end of 2025, I would like to thank you our community who generously supported Columbus House this year.

We had some great news in 2025 - Our Young Parent Outreach Program is now able to support pregnant and parenting youth up to 25 years of age, and up to 29 if they were in our program prior to turning 25. The provincial government has recognized this population as a unique demographic.

We also began the 'Guest House' program in partnership with the Renfew County Youth Wellness Hub. 4 short term beds have been designated between 2 sites to house youth in crisis who are, or at risk of being unhoused, and/or have more complex mental health/addiction needs.

Our Out of Home program continues to provide a structured safe program for youth 16 - 21 who wish to continue their education.

The Teen Compass program enabled youth unable or hesitant to return to community secondary school to obtain credits towards their diploma.

Our two licensed child care programs continue to operate at full capacity.

Your donations support all our programs for youth for which we are extremely grateful. Monthly donations of $25 or more will guarantee 2 free tickets to our annual 'Wine, Beer, and Food Tasting' fundraising event! (November 7, 2026)
