This community-wide initiative will support the Clifford, Harriston, and Palmerston Food Banks and Food Pantries while bringing residents together to help neighbours in need.
We are currently recruiting volunteers in all three communities and would appreciate your assistance in sharing this opportunity with your members, volunteers, staff, congregation, or network.

Volunteer opportunities include:

🚶 Walkers
📦 Depot Packers

Volunteers are needed from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on October 3.

About the Food Drive:

Residents are invited to place donations on their porch or near their front door before 10:00 a.m. on October 3, where volunteers will collect them. Donation depots will also be available in Clifford, Harriston, and Palmerston.

Requested donations include:
• Non-perishable food items (within the best before date)
• Toiletries and personal care products such as toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and other essentials

Financial donations can also be made through the Town, any donation over $25 can receive a Charitable Tax slip from the Town or from the Palmerston Food Bank directly.

Together, we can help ensure local food banks and food pantries have the resources they need to support our neighbours. Thank you for helping us spread the word and for considering being part of this community effort.

Hi! Someone called the Food Bank within the last few days requesting a hamper. Unfortunately, her voice was so quiet and the connection was iffy so we couldn’t get their name or number. Caller ID didn’t show anything either…
If you called looking for food assistance and you haven’t received a call back yet please call us again 519-417-4774 and we’ll set an appointment for you.
Just speak louder, please!

Why waste your food when it’s still good? Best before labels are a guide, they do not mean that food - if still sealed - is no longer good to eat.

✨ Spring cleaning… pantry edition 🌸

POV: You start organizing and suddenly you’re triple-checking every label 👀

Before you start throwing out everything past its best before date, remember:

✔️ Best before = quality
➡️ Freshest before this date

If stored properly, unopened food may still be okay to eat.

❌Expiration = safety
⚠️Do not consume after this date

Save money and waste less food. 💸 🌎

The Palmerston Community Food Bank is thrilled to accept a 'Big Cheque' from Palmerston Foodland, proceeds from their Holiday Fundraising Campaign.
When the cashiers ask you if you'd like to donate a loonie or toonie for the Food Bank, it ends up as a lovely donation such as this.
We're grateful for both Foodland customers and the Graham family for being such great supporters and helpers to the Food Bank.
You're amazing! Thank you for everything you do for us!
Shown accepting the cheque are Jill Hope and Deanna Martin, co-chairs of the Palmerston Food Bank and Mercedes Graham of Foodland.

Please remember: If you are calling the Food Bank for a food hamper please leave your number and we will call you back to make an appointment.
But very importantly, we can’t help you if you don’t answer your phone. We may call from home or our cell phones, so you may not recognize the number. If you’re expecting us to call, answer your phone.
You can also text us 226-622-7505 (food bank cell no).

There are lots of people in our little town of Palmerston who are silently suffering, not knowing how they are going to get enough for them (and their children) to eat.
Times are tough, rent and food is very expensive. If you are suffering food insecurity, if you can't eat after you pay your rent, contact the Food Bank - 519-417-4774.
We are community funded, and are here to help with 5-7 days' worth of food for those in need. You can access our services once every 4 weeks.
There is no shame in asking for help. Our only restriction is that you must live in Palmerston. Other local areas have their own Food Banks.
Our cutoff time is Wednesdays at 9 pm for a Food Hamper on the following day - Thursday. We are by appointment only, so call 519-417-4774, or text 226-622-7505 and we will set you up with an appointment.
Located at 215 William St, Unit 2 in Palmerston.

Just a reminder: If you have items that you would like to donate to the food bank, there is a big old bin at the front of Foodland by the registers where you can leave your items. One of our volunteers stops by regularly to pick up. Easier than trying to catch us there.
Please remember that we cannot give out-of-date items, so please check dates before dropping off items.
Thank you Palmerston, for being such a generous community!
