SVG Ottawa Association

SVG Ottawa Association Welcome to the SVG Ottawa Association page. We are located in the Nation's capital, Ottawa.

The SVGAO was founded by Vincentians in Ottawa on October 27, 1979, the same date our native homeland gained full independence from Britain and the year of the eruption of the volcano, La Soufriere. We are a non-profit organization that operate in Ottawa, and are mainly composed of members of the Vincentian Diaspora in Canada. The over-arching purpose is to provide and organize supportive services

and activities for persons of all ages to members of the organizations and the wider community, as well as offering support to our homeland.

The SVG Association of Ottawa was honoured to celebrate Jean Augustine as the recipient of the Pearson Award.

A trailblazer, mentor, nation builder, and proud daughter of the OECS, her legacy continues to inspire generations across Canada and the Caribbean.

President Suzette Weekes was equally overjoyed to have youth representatives Venassa Baptiste and Marion Duncan, along with affiliates Shakerah Prince and Biyannka Verna , in attendance—creating an opportunity for the next generation to learn from leaders, witness excellence, and be inspired by a woman whose impact has helped shape history.

It’s Read Caribbean Month! 🌴📚
What are you reading?

On our end—can you tell?
Yes, you got it—we’re diving into books by our talented Vincentian authors from around the world! 🇻🇨

At SVGAO, we take pride and honour in supporting our writers by purchasing their books and spotlighting their work—not only during Read Caribbean Month, but throughout our events year-round.

We encourage you to grab a book by a Caribbean author and join us along with in celebrating their voices, stories, and creativity.

Happy Read Caribbean Month!
One sip of cocoa or bush tea, one page—let the journey unfold. 🌿☕

✨ Wrapped in Caribbean Style and Elegance ✨

Our Youth Representative, Marion Duncan, represented our Association with grace and elegance at the annual Caribbean Gala hosted by our affiliate, Côte des Neiges Child Care Centre Inc. in Montreal, setting the tone for an exciting summer season.

Owned and operated by a proud Vincentian, the Centre has been serving its community for more than 50 years—a remarkable legacy of dedication and excellence.

From the glimpses shared, the evening captured everything we love about the Caribbean: vibrant culture, rich flavours, infectious energy, and a spirit that brings people together. It was truly a celebration of the sights, sounds, and essence of our region.

Congratulations to the entire team for another outstanding event and for continuing to keep the colours, culture, and flavours of the Caribbean shining brightly for all to enjoy. 🌴✨🌺
