We got the generators beside tenants' balconies moved BUT there are still so many issues tenants have been dealing with since the Canada Day floods.

- Frequent power outages
- Elevators often shut down
- mould, asbestos, and poor air quality
- Garbage chute, gym, pool and common room remain closed
- Building laundry is closed forcing tenants to incur out-of-pocket expenses.

Earlier this week Vanier ACORN rallied outside landlord Jason Anbara’s office to demand immediate action for tenants at 265 & 269 Pères-Blancs! 📢

After successfully fighting off renovictions in 2024, tenants are now facing neglected homes with leaking sinks, freezing windows, and broken locks. When tenants tried to reach out, phones were blocked and doors were locked.🚫

While Anbara’s staff was willing to open their doors to yell at the rallying members, when tenants delivered the letter with a request to discuss issues in the building, they promptly threw it out the door and onto the ground. These actions don't line up with Jason Anbara's Forty under 40 award for his alleged “willingness to reinvest into the people and places that shaped him.”🙄😡

We won't back down until repairs are made. This action and countless others are exactly why Ottawa desperately needs a Safe Apartments Bylaw to do hold negligent landlords accountable! 🏢🛠️

Last week the 30 McEwen ACORN Tenant Union delivered a demand letter to Saickley Enterprise over unresolved issues following the July 1 flood.🌊⚠ Tenants are demanding safe homes, repairs and clear communication. CBC and the Kitchissippi Times were there to cover the action.

The next day, the generators that had been troubling residents were moved, a big win for tenants organizing together! We’ll keep pushing until the remaining issues are resolved.
