As we kicked off National Indigenous Peoples Month, the Akwego Program partnered with students from A. Lorne Cassidy Elementary School for a Ball Hockey and Friendship Event for a day filled with friendship, sports, culture, food, drumming, and teachings.

A big miigwetch goes to ‘Imagine a Canada’ for the grant, and also to the City of Ottawa for donating the arena space for our hockey fun.

Join us as we launch the Odawa Makwa Dodem Patrol.

On June 10 at 6:00 pm, Odawa will host a free community training (at 815 St. Laurent), led by Winnipeg’s own Bear Clan Patrol, whose members have inspired communities across Turtle Island through grassroots outreach, compassion, and safety initiatives.

Community members interested in volunteering or learning more are encouraged to attend. Then, on June 11, join us at 6:00 pm at 179 Clarence St. for the inaugural Makwa Dodem Patrol walk.
Together with community partners, volunteers, and supporters, we will walk to the Ottawa Sign to formally celebrate the official launch of the patrol and show unity, visibility, and care for our community.

Everyone is welcome. Come walk with us, stand together, and be part of this meaningful movement for Ottawa’s Indigenous community.

Please email Jennifer at [email protected] with any individual questions you may have.
