Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation

Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation River Care - water quality monitoring, biodiversity monitoring, wetland inventories, invasive specie and garbage removal, clean water projects.

The Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation is a registered environmental charity (www.RVCF.ca) working to protect and conserve the lands and waters of the Rideau River valley in Eastern Ontario. The Foundation raises funds and in-kind gifts for three major areas of conservation work:

Land Care - tree planting, erosion control, landowner information, trail building and maintenance, outdoor signage,

picnic tables, benches, boardwalks. Conservation Education - outdoor learning and experiences, accessible programs and services, onsite landowner visits, public events. The Foundation was founded in 1970 and is run by a volunteer Board of Directors. It works closely with many environmental and like-minded partners in the National Capital Region. The Foundation's biggest supporter is the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, which provides office space and staff, lends expertise to many of the Foundation's environmental projects and manages its conservation lands. The Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation is a registered environmental charity. Our CRA Business Number is 11911 9501 RR0001.

Thank you Community Home Support Lanark County for supporting our Memorial Tree program and helping your clients heal πŸ’šπŸŒ±

Spending time in peaceful natural areas and forest trails can offer comfort and healing during difficult times. The Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation's Memorial Forest, located within the Baxter Conservation Area in Kars, provides a meaningful space for families and friends to connect with nature while remembering and honouring loved ones.

Last spring, CHSLC supported this initiative by purchasing 80 native tree seedlings through the Memorial Tree Planting Program on behalf of those who participated in our Grief & Bereavement Groups, creating a living tribute to honour loved ones who have passed away. 🌿

We are so grateful to MPP George Darouze and the Government of Ontario for this generous contribution to Baxter's accessibility transformation! Learn more about our Nature For All campaign: https://www.rvcf.ca/ways-to-give/nature-for-all/baxter-boardwalk-campaign

I'm proud to announce that our government, through support from Minister of Seniors and Accessibility Raymond Cho, will be providing up to $57,935 to the Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation for the completion of a 710 metre accessible boardwalk network at Baxter Conservation Area.

This funding comes from the Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone (EASE) funding stream, which supports projects that improve accessibility and support active lifestyles for people with disabilities and older adults.

This project will remove barriers and ensure that seniors, people with disabilities, and families can enjoy nature safely and inclusively right here in Carleton. I am looking forward to seeing the construction begin!

Any landowner knows the hidden costs of acquiring a property, such as surveying, land appraisal and legal fees. As a land trust, we face the same costs. Luckily, our Environmental Land Fund helps cover these costs so donors don’t have to! Support for this fund allows us to continue accepting donations of wetlands, shorelines and forests for perpetual protection. Learn more: https://www.rvcf.ca/ways-to-give/environmental-land-fund
