Onaping Falls Branch 503 - Royal Canadian Legion Lest We Forget. The Royal Canadian Legion is the largest of the many Veterans Organizations in Canada with over 340,000 members.

The Legion is open to all Canadian citizens and Commonwealth subjects. We have approximately 40,000 members of Ladies Auxiliary. Legion is a non-profit organization which strives to serve Veterans and the community. Since inception in 1926, Legion strives to secure adequate pensions and benefits for veterans and their dependants, dealing directly with Federal Government
The Legion's major responsi

bility is the perpetuation of "REMEMBRANCE" through the Annual Poppy Campaign reminding Canadians of the 117,000 men and women who gave their lives in the wars and military missions around the world
Poppy funds collected are used for assistance to veterans, ex-service members and their families who are in need
Legion supports programs for seniors, community, housing, Long Term Care, youth (including poetry and essay contest, poster contest and public speaking), education, sports, Cadets, Guides and Scouts.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who kindly contributed their empties to our Legion. The Legion is not merely a social establishment, but rather a central hub where we provide essential support to veterans and make philanthropic donations to various organizations within our community. Your generosity enables us to contribute to our hockey leagues, churches, our curling club, our schools, Health Science North, the hospice, and bursaries for children in our community. There are numerous other organizations that we donate to, but the list is extensive.
Thank you to the volunteers that came out to help yesterday, it was greatly appreciated.
