The ShelterBox team in Kathmandu is meeting with Rotary Nepal and Bhutan District 3292 Governor Bishnu Karkee, Dinesh Raj Manandhar and other members of the Rotary Nepal District Disaster Relief Committees to better understand the challenges facing communities affected by Nepal's devastating flash floods.

In this photo, ShelterBox Regional Director Haroon Altaf, Programme Manager Sonja Hughes, and Supply Chain Specialist Nick Wright are meeting with Rotary Nepal and Bhutan District 3292 Governor Bishnu Karkee, Dinesh Raj Manandhar and members of the Rotary Nepal District Disaster Relief Committees.

Rotary International members are helping ShelterBox understand the situation on the ground, including which communities have been hardest hit and what support is needed most. Together, we're assessing how ShelterBox can help families who have lost their homes and belongings.

Working together is key. ShelterBox brings emergency shelter expertise, while Rotary's local knowledge and community connections help us reach the people who need support most.

🚨 Nepal floods response update

A ShelterBox team is in Kathmandu, working with Rotary International and other local organizations to understand the impact of the catastrophic flash floods and what support communities need most.

We're assessing needs and exploring how we can support both immediate relief and longer-term recovery. This could include emergency shelter items such as tents, tarpaulins, blankets, sleeping mats and solar lights.

Thousands of people have lost their homes, belongings, and livelihoods and are in urgent need of shelter. Damage to roads and bridges is making it difficult to reach some of the hardest-hit communities, but we're working closely with partners to identify where needs are greatest and how we can help.

A ShelterBox team is on the ground in Nepal and is assessing the situation after catastrophic flash floods devastated communities.

A powerful surge of water, mud, ice, and debris washed away homes, roads and bridges, leaving communities cut off and families without safe shelter.

More than 1,000 people have died, over 4,200 are missing, and an estimated 65,000 people have been affected.

Our team is meeting with Rotary International members and other humanitarian organizations to understand what might be needed and how we can best support affected communities.

We are also speaking to potential partners to understand how we could work together to address immediate needs and are considering essential aid items like blankets, sleeping mats, tarpaulin and ropes.

As assessments continue, we'll keep you updated on how ShelterBox can help families recover and rebuild.

🆘 Families in Nepal need your support now.

As the climate crisis fuels more extreme weather, families in Nepal are facing the devastating consequences.

In just a few hours, a powerful surge of water, mud, ice and debris tore through northern Nepal, sweeping away entire communities.

More than 950 people have been killed, over 4,400 people remain missing, and thousands are feared to have lost or damaged their homes. Ongoing flood risks are also making rescue efforts even more difficult.
