Today, we pause to recognize the loss of two Ontario police officers who died in the line of duty this week: Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto and Ontario Provincial Police Constable Tarun Bali.

We extend our deepest condolences to their families, friends, colleagues, and the communities they served. Their dedication to public safety and service to others will not be forgotten.

At Victim Services of Nipissing District, we recognize that tragedies such as these have a profound impact on families, first responders, colleagues, and entire communities. We also acknowledge the effect these losses have on the broader policing community and all those who work each day to support and protect others.

We stand in solidarity with everyone grieving during this difficult time and honour the service, commitment, and sacrifice of these officers.

Thank you to Maple View Public School for inviting Moka to visit one of your classes!

Moka left the speaking to her handler, but she was happy to help demonstrate what a Support Dog does. She especially enjoyed all the pets, cuddles, and the wonderful artwork created just for her by the talented young artists in the class.

Thank you for making us feel so welcome and for sharing your creativity with Moka. She loved every minute of her visit! 🐾

Thank you to the North Bay Police Service for inviting us to join their Community Response Unit, and Radar the Moose, at the 24th Annual Safety Day organized by EarlyON - North Bay and Area / ON y va - North Bay et les environs yesterday.

We had a wonderful time meeting families, connecting with community members, and taking part in a fun morning focused on safety education and hands-on learning.

It was great to see so many children chatting with police officers, giving Radar hugs, sitting in the police car, and spending time with Moka.

Thank you to everyone who came over to say hello. Moka loved all the smiles, pats, and cuddles throughout the day! 🐾

Moka was proud to join members of the North Bay Police Service at Pull for United Way in support of United Way Centraide North East Ontario.

It was wonderful to see so many teams come together for this unique community event, where participants put their teamwork and determination to the test by pulling an aircraft across the tarmac.

We enjoyed meeting community members, cheering on participants, and taking in the excitement of the day.

Can you find Moka in the team photo? 🐾

As May draws to a close, Moka has settled beautifully into her role during her first few weeks on the job.

Moka has spent time with children and families throughout our community, offering comfort and a familiar face as part of the wraparound support available through our program.

One of the sweetest moments so far was when a child picked a dandelion flower especially for her.

It was a simple gesture that brought a big smile to our faces and a lovely reminder of the connections she helps create every day.

Today, Moka attended her for Police Week with the North Bay Police Service and Victim Services of Nipissing District, alongside members of the Ontario Provincial Police and the North Bay Fire and Emergency Services.

This year’s Police Week theme, “Protecting Ontario Through Service,” was reflected in the way emergency services and community members came together throughout the day. With community resources, information tables, and fun swag to take home, the event created such a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who attended.

A very special thank you to the Firefighters for gifting Moka her very first toy at a community event — which she proudly carried around for most of the day. 🐾

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, gave Moka pets, and made her feel so welcome.
