Victim Services of Nipissing District, in partnership with North Bay Police Service, provides an accredited Facility Support Dog Program offering comfort, emotional support, and community outreach to individuals impacted by crime and tragedy since 2018. If you are in crisis or require immediate mental health support, contact the North Bay Regional Hospital Crisis Intervention Program at 705-495-8198. If this is an emergency please dial 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room.

November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario.

Every woman has the right to be safe in her home, her relationships, and her community. This month, we're sharing what abuse can look like, how to support someone you care about, and where to find help here in Nipissing District.

Across Canada, a woman or girl is killed in an act of gender-based violence every 48 hours (Women and Gender Equality Canada). That violence is preventable, and prevention starts with all of us.

If you're experiencing abuse, you are not alone, and it is not your fault. VSND offers free, confidential support, 24/7.

👻 Moka is so excited to celebrate her very first Halloween alongside the North Bay Police Service!

Members of the Police Service will be welcoming trick-or-treaters to Police Headquarters at 135 Princess Street West on Saturday, October 31, starting at 5:00 p.m.

Moka will be there to join in the Halloween fun from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.!

Moka was delighted to meet The Honourable Doug Downey, Attorney General of Ontario, during his visit to the Turtle’s Nest Child and Youth Advocacy Centre in Nipissing District.

It was a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on the important work being done to support children, youth, and families in our community.

What a meaningful experience participating in the Strength in Service – Resilient Together Wellness Symposium hosted by the North Bay Police Service!

This important event brought together first responders and public safety personnel from across the Nipissing region, highlighting the importance of mental health, wellness, resilience, gratitude, and the strength found in supporting one another.

The symposium featured inspiring speakers, engaging breakout sessions, and a panel discussion with representatives from various public safety professions, sharing valuable insights and experiences surrounding mental health and wellness.

As the Facility Support Dog for Victim Services and the North Bay Police Service, Moka plays an important role in supporting members through peer support and non-operational debriefs, offering comfort, connection, and emotional support.

Moka was on hand throughout the symposium, offering a calming presence and a little extra love to those who dedicate their lives to serving others. 🐾
