Among the notable attendees was Nikola Tesla, who sat thoughtfully at the lower right of the table, his chin resting gently on his hand.
This unique photograph does more than document a social occasion; it reflects the influential circle that accompanied Tesla throughout his career. While his mind was preoccupied with the expansive realms of cosmic forces and unseen energies, Tesla often engaged with the elite, dining alongside industrial leaders, creative visionaries, and respected politicians.
Adjacent to Tesla, Henry Clews represented the pinnacle of American financial power. Their seating arrangement highlights the crucial yet often overlooked collaboration between financiers and imaginative innovators who together influenced the course of progress. As Clews facilitated funding and initiatives, Tesla converted visionary ideas into tangible innovations—each playing a vital role in the rapidly evolving landscape of the early 20th century.
Born in Smiljan in 1856 and educated in Graz and Prague, Tesla arrived in the United States in 1884.
