A little rain couldn’t stop an incredible day at Walkathon 2026 💙

With 347 student participants, the support of 70 staff members, 45 parent volunteers, and an amazing community cheering us on, this year’s Walkathon was a huge success. From start to finish, the day was filled with energy, encouragement, and school spirit and we are so thankful for everyone who helped make it happen.

A special thank you to our sponsors:
TriCity Church, Burnett Church, Maple Ridge Alliance Church, Maple Ridge Christian Reformed Church, Save-On-Foods Westgate Centre, and Subway. Your generosity and support helped make this event possible.

We also want to give a huge shoutout to our incredible event coordinator, Emily Crase, whose hard work and leadership brought the entire day together so seamlessly.

As of today, our community has raised approximately $52,000 toward the blueprint phase of our third floor campaign! 🎉 Because of the momentum and generosity we’ve seen, the fundraising deadline has now been extended until June 7 as we continue working toward our $65,000 goal.

In the spirit of loving our neighbours, we are also honoured to donate 10% of all proceeds to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation Paediatric Unit. Thank you, MRCS community, for walking, serving, giving, and supporting so faithfully.

MRCS Parents, we’d love your help sharing our Walkathon campaign with the wider community. 💙

One of the simplest ways to support this year’s Walkathon is by reposting this graphic to your story or feed and tagging . Every share helps more friends, family members, and local supporters hear about what our students are working toward together.

As a thank you, every repost and tag from an MRCS parent will count as an entry into a draw for a $25 gift card. Entries close Sunday, June 7.

Thank you for partnering with us and continuing to champion our school community throughout Walkathon season.

At MRCS, we love seeing students pursue their passions and explore the many pathways available to them as they prepare for life beyond graduation.

We’re celebrating two of our Grade 11 students and the exciting opportunities they’ve stepped into this year!

Alessandro recently graduated from the Maple Ridge Fire Youth Academy, where he spent Tuesday afternoons learning firsthand about the challenges and rewards of the fire service. Through coursework, training, and hands-on experience, he was able to explore whether a future career in firefighting could be the right fit for him — all while balancing a full Grade 11 course load at MRCS. We are so proud of his dedication and hard work!

Jesse has been accepted into the Youth Train in Trades partnership program with KPU for next year, where he will begin his Millwright Apprenticeship Level 1 training. Through this partnership, Jesse will still have MRCS as his home school during Grade 12 — graduating alongside his classmates and continuing to participate in school life and athletics while completing his apprenticeship training.

We are grateful for opportunities like these that allow students to discover their gifts, pursue meaningful career pathways, and prepare to flourish in the places God is calling them. 💙

After months of care and learning, both Grade 4 classes recently had the opportunity to release the salmon they have been raising since January at the Bell-Irving Hatchery at Kanaka Creek 🐟

From raising the salmon from eyed eggs to regularly feeding them and testing the water, students experienced firsthand what it means to care for living things and steward creation well. During the field trip, students also explored habitats through pond dipping, water testing, temperature checks, and hiking together in nature.

This learning connected deeply to Mr. Vos’ Deep Hope: that students would love God, see Him in everything, and follow Jesus. Through experiences like these, students are reminded that learning is not just about gaining knowledge, it’s also about becoming creation-caretakers and community-servers who recognize God’s presence in the world around them. 💙

WALKATHON FEATURED FUNDRAISERS 💙🚶‍♂️

One of the best parts of Walkathon season is seeing the creativity, initiative, and community spirit of our students shine in so many different ways!

✨ Cianna and Serenity Groot spent their weekend selling freezies at Maple Ridge Park and raised an incredible $300 for Walkathon! Cianna has also volunteered extra time outside of school to help support this year’s event.

✨ Heidi launched her own “summer business” - creating handcrafted beaded bracelets and serving as a “Mommy’s Helper” to support local families while raising donations for Walkathon.

✨ Aaron and Callie rolled up their sleeves to help neighbours with backyard w**d removal, turning hard work and service into meaningful fundraising for our school community.

We are so proud of these students for using their gifts, creativity, and initiative to make a difference. Their efforts are a reminder that even small acts of service and entrepreneurship can have a big impact. 💙

WALKATHON UPDATE 💙🚶‍♀️

We are excited to share that our MRCS community has now raised $13,632 toward our $65,000 Walkathon goal! Thank you for your incredible generosity, creativity, and support so far!

This week, we’re celebrating a few of our featured fundraisers:

✨ Phyllis L. spent the weekend making and selling friendship bracelets in support of Walkathon.

✨ Ophelia M. set up a table at a community garage sale selling stickers, popsicles, and lemonade — and with additional donations, raised an amazing $520!

We also want to congratulate Ena from Grade 2 who won a weekend challenge prize: an MRCS hat! 🎉

And… we officially passed our first Milestone Motivator🎉

That means Mr. Yuen will be dyeing his hair as we have surpassed the $10,000 mark!

Every donation, fundraiser, and act of support is helping move us closer to our goal. Families can continue supporting the Walkathon here or in our IG bio: https://mrcs-walkathon2026.raiselysite.com/
