A huge thank you to No Frills for their continued partnership and generosity towards Friends In Need Food Bank Society. ๐Ÿ’œ

Through their recent support, they donated $1,500 in gift cards along with essential hygiene products to help support individuals and families across Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows experiencing food insecurity.

Hygiene products are some of the most requested but least donated essentials, and support like this helps fill an important gap for many households.

We are incredibly grateful for community partners like No Frills who continue to stand beside us and help strengthen food support services in our community. Thank you for helping us make a difference, one family at a time. ๐Ÿ’š

A sincere thank you to the Geraldine and Kenneth Burnett Fund for their generous investment in Friends In Need Food Bank Society and the people we serve.

Thanks to their support, we will be able to replace one of our essential delivery vehicles used throughout Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. This vehicle plays a critical role in our operations, helping us recover, transport, and distribute nutritious food to individuals, families, seniors, schools, and community partners across our region.

The Geraldine and Kenneth Burnett Fundโ€™s commitment to strengthening communities and supporting organizations that create meaningful impact will help us continue serving our neighbours with dignity, compassion, and care. Check out their commitment via website๐Ÿ’œ

In honour of World Hunger Day, itโ€™s always encouraging to see local news outlets sharing stories about the growing need at our food bank โ€” the more awareness we can bring to food insecurity in our community, the better. ๐Ÿ’œ

Today serves as an important reminder that hunger exists in every community, including our own, and that it takes all of us working together to make a difference.

We would like to extend another heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club of Meadow Ridge for presenting Friends In Need Food Bank Society with a generous $20,000 donation. Their dedication and commitment to supporting our community means far more than just the donation itself. Contributions like these directly help us continue operating day after day, ensuring fresh food and essential support reaches those who need it most.๐Ÿ’œ

Your kindness, contribution, and belief in our mission will be remembered every single day we open our doors. Thank you for standing with us. ๐Ÿ’œ

โ€œFood insecurityโ€ is no longer a hidden issue in British Columbia โ€” it is becoming a daily reality for families, seniors, students, and working individuals across our communities.

Right now in BC:
โ€ข 1.3 million people are experiencing food insecurity.
โ€ข More than 113,000 individuals accessed a food bank in a single month.
โ€ข Food bank usage has increased 44% since before the pandemic.
โ€ข Nearly 1 in 3 food bank clients are children.
โ€ข More working families than ever before are needing food support just to get by.

At Friends In Need Food Bank, we witness this reality firsthand every week. The faces accessing support are changing. Food insecurity no longer looks the way many people expect it to. It could be your coworker, your neighbor, a senior on a fixed income, or a parent trying their best to provide for their children.

This is more than a statistic. This is a growing community crisis.

Now more than ever, support matters. ๐Ÿ’œ

This is what happens behind the scenes before the doors open to the community. ๐Ÿ’œ

From fresh produce to pantry staples, every item is carefully checked and distributed with care to help support individuals and families in our community.

A reminder that all food availability is based entirely on donations received. While we do our very best to provide a variety of items, quantities and selections can vary week to week depending on community support.

Before the lineups begin, there are countless hours of preparation, teamwork, and care that go into making food support possible for our community. Thank you for helping us continue this important work.

Thank you to our volunteers and donors for helping make this possible every single day. ๐Ÿฅซ๐Ÿฅ•

We are deeply grateful to Auxiliary President Yvonne Blom and Aerie President Dick Penner for presenting a generous $6,000 donation to Friends In Need Food Bank. This support will help us continue providing food assistance and essential programs to individuals and families across Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Itโ€™s donations like these that give us hope for a positive turnaround during a time of growing need in our community. Families, seniors, and individuals continue to rely on food support every week, and with the help of compassionate community partners like the Maple Ridge Eagles, we can continue being there for those who need us most.

Thank you for standing beside local organizations and helping neighbours in need. Your compassion and support truly make an impact. ๐Ÿ’œ

Today is a great day to support local families in need. ๐Ÿ’œ

According to new national data shared by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, nearly 1 in 4 Canadians are experiencing food insecurity โ€” including approximately 2.4 million children across the country.

Behind these numbers are real people: families trying to keep food on the table, seniors stretching fixed incomes, and individuals navigating rising housing and grocery costs.

Here in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, Friends In Need Food Bank Society continues to see increasing demand for food support each week. Community donations, volunteers, and local partnerships help ensure fresh food and essential groceries remain available to neighbours when they need them most.
Food banks are more than food โ€” they are community, compassion, and people helping people. ๐Ÿซถ๐ŸŽ
