Hillside 4H Club is a youth-lead organization where ages 6-21 fill executive roles, such as President and Treasurer.

Their motto is โ€œlearn to do by doing.โ€

4-H involvement provides opportunities for scholarships and exchange programs.

Youth can do almost any project you can imagine, ranging from quilting to beef to photography.

4-H is a youth club for ages 6-21, that focuses on active, firsthand learning through various yearly projects. From raising livestock to outdoor living experiences, 4-H offers youth a wealth of experiential discovery!

Meet Janelle Schentag.

She is one of the original Lumsden Commons steering committee members and has since become our Programming Lead! You may have seen her around a time or 2 at our Thursday Farmerโ€™s Markets.

Having lived in the area for years, Janelle wanted to increase connections in the community, and helping build a Community Centre fit the bill!

In her โ€œfree time,โ€ she seeks out learning opportunities and is hence taking on more school this fall. She also loves to read, drink coffee on her deck, and attempt to grow a garden. Her 3 kids keep her busy with all their activities and sports.

As our Programming Lead, Janelle oversees program development and is currently planning for our Launch Party, helping develop Play Cafรฉ, and envisioning Workshop Wednesdays, community potlucks, and Christmas on the Commons.

Stay tuned for further details as we get closer and closer to our launch date!
