🌍💚 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 💚🌍

Raising awareness. Breaking stigma. Building hope.

Mental health matters. Every person, in every community, deserves access to mental health support, understanding, and compassionate care. 💚

World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to shine a light on mental health issues around the world, raise awareness, and encourage meaningful action to ensure that mental health care is accessible to everyone.

It is also a time to recognize the incredible work being done by individuals, organizations, health care professionals, and communities to support mental well-being—and to ask ourselves what more we can do.

✨ How can we make a difference?

💚 Start the conversation. Talking openly about mental health helps break down stigma and reminds people they are not alone.

💚 Lead with compassion. Sometimes, a listening ear, a kind word, or simply checking in can make a bigger difference than we realize.

💚 Support one another. Create safe spaces where people feel comfortable sharing their struggles without fear of judgment.

💚 Advocate for accessible care. Everyone deserves the opportunity to receive the support and treatment they need, regardless of where they live or their circumstances.

💚 Remember that mental health is health. Asking for help is a sign of strength, and no one should have to navigate their struggles alone.

🌱 Let's work together to build a world where mental health is treated with the same care, compassion, and importance as physical health.

You never truly know what someone else is carrying. A little kindness, patience, and understanding can go a long way.

Today, and every day, let's choose compassion over judgment, connection over isolation, and hope over stigma. 💚

Because mental health matters. Every person matters. And everyone deserves support.

💚 Let's make mental health care a reality for all.

🌟 New Workshop Alert! 🌟

💙 Supporting Recovery Through Financial Wellness 💙

The Mental Health Day Program has started a new weekly Financial Basics Workshop Series, providing participants with practical skills to build financial confidence and independence.

Throughout the month, participants will learn about:
• Budgeting and expense management
• Credit and debt awareness
• Fraud and scam prevention
• Saving and future planning

Financial stability plays an important role in mental wellness and recovery. By increasing financial literacy and developing practical money management skills, participants can feel more empowered in making informed decisions about their future. The workshop curriculum focuses on accessible, plain-language financial education that is easy to understand and apply.

The Financial Basics program was developed by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and the Ontario Securities Commission to improve financial literacy and money management skills. We are proud to offer programming that supports the many aspects of maintaining recovery and continued personal growth.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day 🧡

Today, Libbie Young Centre clients and staff came together to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. Through participation, reflection, and learning, we honoured the Survivors of residential schools, remembered the children who never returned home, and acknowledged the enduring impacts that residential schools continue to have on Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.

September 30 serves as an important opportunity for all Canadians to learn about the truth of our shared history, reflect on the ongoing journey of reconciliation, and strengthen relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Orange Shirt Day reminds us that “Every Child Matters” and recognizes the intergenerational effects of residential schools. The orange shirt symbolizes the loss of culture, identity, and freedom experienced by many Indigenous children who were separated from their families and communities.

We are proud of our clients and staff for participating in today's activities and discussions. By taking time to listen, learn, and reflect together, we continue to foster understanding, respect, and meaningful community connections.

As we commemorate this important day, we encourage everyone to continue learning throughout the year, support Indigenous voices, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation.

🧡 Every Child Matters. 🧡
