đź’— Kindness Wins 2026 is here! đź’—

We’re excited to announce the launch of Kindness Wins 2026, marking the 16th year of this meaningful community tradition. Since 2011, Kindness Wins has supported anti-bullying efforts and National Pink Shirt Day—recognized this year on February 25, 2026—and has raised over $56,000 to date.

Funds raised in 2026 will once again support Beyond Borders Circle of Change, helping advance anti-bullying programming, training, and student-led initiatives in local schools. New this year, we’re introducing Kindness Wins Rural Grants, expanding the campaign beyond the city so rural schools, community groups, and organizations in our trading area can apply for funding to support kindness-focused initiatives.

This year’s Kindness Wins graphic was created in partnership with the Lakeland College Rustlers Women’s Hockey —a perfect match, as their leadership, teamwork, and community pride reflect the heart of Kindness Wins.

✨ And the big reveal… this year’s special-edition colour is Rustlers Green!

Merchandise is available now at Lloydminster Co-op Marketplace, Neilburg Co-op Grocery, and all four Lloydminster Co-op Gas Bars while supplies last.

Written by Winston Churchill Staff

In our dynamic and interconnected world, the need for kindness and empathy has never been more crucial. The “Grow Seeds of Kindness” project is a response to the growing importance of instilling these values in the hearts and minds of our students, starting from the earliest stages of their education. 1. Nurturing a Positive School Culture: Our school is not just an educational institution; it is a community where students, teachers, and staff interact daily. By undertaking the “Grow Seeds of Kindness” project, we aim to foster a positive and inclusive school culture. This initiative will encourage students to support and uplift one another, creating an environment where kindness becomes a natural part of their interactions. 2. Early Introduction to Empathy: Kindergarten is a foundational stage in a child’s development, and it is during these formative years that attitudes and behaviors are shaped. Introducing the concept of kindness at this early age helps lay the groundwork for empathy and compassion. The hands-on experience of planting and nurturing seeds will serve as a tangible metaphor for the growth of positive values within each child. 3. Teaching Responsibility and Care: By involving students in the entire process of growing plants, we provide them with a valuable lesson in responsibility and care. Learning to nurture living things helps children understand the impact of their actions and instills a sense of accountability. These skills extend beyond the garden and into their daily interactions with peers and the wider community. 4. Strengthening Community Bonds: The “Grow Seeds of Kindness” project extends beyond the classroom and into the community. By distributing plants to various members of our school and local community, we aim to strengthen bonds and promote a sense of interconnectedness. This simple act of sharing will create ripples of kindness, fostering a supportive network within and beyond our school walls.

Making Connections by Being Sweet

Positive affirmations were written by students and attached to Kapow Pops, which were then delivered to students and staff at Bishop Lloyd. This was seen as a good transitioning opportunity for the students who would be attending Bishop Lloyd the following school year. This was also an opportunity for the students to interact with older students with hopes that the positive messaging could work its way up to the higher grades.

Queen E is Thankful

Students completed one or more papers with the heading “I am so thankful for . . . “ or “We are so thankful for” where they would then write or draw pictures about something they are thankful for at Queen E. Approved entries were transformed into silicone bracelets that could be picked up and worn by students. The bracelets included beliefs that are held tightly and deeply by Queen E.

Mental Health Goodie Bags

The School initially wanted to contribute to their annual Mental Health Fair, but due to strike/bargaining action at the time, LCHS needed to come up with a Plan B. Leadership students organized goodie bags with mental health-related contents such as stress balls, treats, and information handouts. 200 Bags were assembled and handed out to LCHS students and staff in total.
