Effective immediately the open air fire ban has been lifted but...

this does not mean that you can burn whatever, whenever, wherever....

FIRE BAN ISSUED
The City of Greater Sudbury has declared a ban on all open air burning throughout the entire City of Greater Sudbury, effective midnight, June 6, 2026.

Declaring an open-air burning ban means all open-air fires, including campfires, chiminea fireplaces, crop residue fires, fireworks, and any other type of outdoor burning, are prohibited.
All open-air fire permits are automatically canceled for the duration of the ban.
Gas-fired and charcoal barbecues are exempt from the fire ban.

• leave family dinners at a moment's notice

• jump out of bed for 3:00 AM calls

• step away from their "day jobs" the second the pager sounds

These individuals are the backbone of our fire services, protecting over 80% of Ontario’s geography. 🌲🚜

This , we’re looking past the gear at the people behind it. To the firefighters balancing careers, families, and the sudden ring of a pager: We see the dedication it takes to serve your community at 3:00 AM and still be at your desk by 9:00 AM.
