Ontario Craft Wineries

Ontario Craft Wineries Champion and advocate for the growth and success of Ontario VQA wine producers. The OCW represents more than 100 farm-family wineries throughout the Province.

These wineries are independently owned, small and medium sized enterprises, dedicated to crafting 100% Ontario VQA wines. As grape growers, manufacturers and leaders in tourism, our winery members are located in the three designated viticultural appellations: Niagara, Prince Edward County and Lake Erie North Shore – including Pelee Island, as well as emerging wine producing regions such as Ontario

’s South Coast, Georgian Bay and Grey County. OCW members are the future of Ontario’s wine industry, representing a source of new investment, jobs and award-winning wines to the province. Economically, Ontario’s VQA wine and grape industry contributes business revenue of $1.9 billion and generates an additional $236 million in tax revenues and $528 million in wages. This represents an annual economic impact of over $2.4 billion. Currently, more than 11,000 jobs are created in Ontario as a result of the wine and grape industry (100% Canadian). The wine and grape industry has also developed a loyal tourist following, welcoming over 2.4 million visitors annually. This provides numerous spin-off benefits in the hospitality, tourism and agriculture sectors, which helps support other small businesses across our province. For more information on the OCW visit:

Winery member Monday featuring Ferox Winery! The story of Ferox Winery began in 2015, when Fabian and Stephanie Reis hand-harvested their first Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, producing just three barrels of wine. Inspired by the Latin word for “fierce,” Ferox was born from a vision to combine knowledge, innovation and tradition in pursuit of exceptional wines. In 2018, Fabian and Stephanie made Niagara-on-the-Lake home, purchasing Vignoble Rancourt Winery and its mature Bordeaux vines planted in excellent soils. Today, Ferox continues to pursue superior quality from vineyard to bottle, with sustainable vineyard practices at its foundation, including Ontario Sustainable Winegrowing Certification and a commitment to healthy soils, biodiversity and herbicide-free farming.

Friday winery member feature, Windrush Estate Winery. Named after the sweeping Windrush River valley in England’s Cotswolds, Windrush Estate Winery was founded by J.C. Pennie and Marilyn Field on a vision of beauty, excellence, and purposeful community. This vision is woven into everything they do.

The estate has been home to Hockley Hills since 2017, and is now bringing that same energy to an exciting new chapter with a tasting room opening in Etobicoke this summer. Crafted by Chief Winemaker Jonathan Boyle alongside legendary vintner Jim Warren, each bottle of Windrush wine captures the fruit of the land, the tenacity of entrepreneurs, and the passion of international visionaries.
